Debate for National Health Care Starts on the House Floor @ 1030 EST / 0730PST 11/7

It sickens me to think how proud these democrats are of Social Security.

Politico is saying Pelosi has it locked up.

You know, you ever wonder about this website, politico? A webiste with over hundred journalists, that loses millions each year can afford to stay in business?
Oh sure, they have a small newsletter, that makes them a few hundred dollars a week.

Anyway, this is no different than trying to intimidate you opponent before a fight. She is trying to intimidate the blue dog democrats, by suggesting that thier resistance will be futile anyway. It they lock it in, it will be close, and with the abortion and immigration uncertainties, she can't know for sure unless there was alot of back room deals today. I'm calling her bluff.

To sum up this healthcare debate: two parties salivating at their new vote buying machine. Their disagreements only lie in wheather there should be power steering or not.

15,000 for any person is unbelievable. I understand totally , ive been against the fed, states rights, and keeping control of the deficit.

To be honest - I believe $15,000 is for a family (for the most MINIMAL plan) and for an individual it's "ONLY" around $8,000 for the MINIMAL plan...

But yah - a 26yo has no problem coming up with an extra mandated $800 - $1,000 a month or face a $25,000 fine and jail time - right? - you know in a down economy where you are having problems finding a job? With 20% unemployment... Where most people are barely squeaking by... How many people is this going to put on the street. Even those doing fairly well it's going to be a mortgage breaker... Let alone keeping a roof over your head if you are renting. And than there are the seniors on fixed incomes - who they didn't give a cost of living increase to this year. and the co-pays - one person read the bill and figured out his $10 a month co-pay for diabetic supplies would go to $300 a month...

actually one vote buying machine. They will need millions of health care workers to fill various posts in these 100+ newly created departments. In other words, they will have corralled millions of voters who will not vote against their own livelihood.

Blue Dog NO votes are re-election savers...

Don't believe they actually are listening to their constituents and doing it because they are "representing" them...

Oh no, definitely not.
They work that out behind the scenes.
They will pass this but not with one more vote than is needed.
That should be proof enough.
Everything they are doing now is a charade.

This pisses me off.
I am not represented.
I have no health care coverage.
I DO NOT WANT health care coverage. I do not want to pay for insurance, for anybody.
I am not represented.
:(

I'm in the same boat. It was bad enough when I learned my taxes may be paying for everybody's health coverage. This compulsory "you must have health coverage" bullshit is bringing me to the edge of giving up and to start looking for another country to live in.

Colin Peterson isn't voting no to save his seat, he always wins with ~70-30 margins. He's voting no because he knows it'll break the country.

You can just tell the Republicans are beat. It's somewhat sad because I am obviously siding with them on this...but it teaches them a lesson. You can't just say "no, no, no", throw up a completely half-assed bill, and expect the undecided dems to vote with them.

Also, watching Boehner talk right now is like listening to the Republican's death rattle.

It sickens me to think how proud these democrats are of Social Security.
This has also made me sick all night.

Neocon wars of aggression gave us this disaster tonight. If it wasn't for the Iraq war, the independents would have never voted these radicals in.

This is Bush's bill as far as I'm concerned.

With 2 votes so it doesn't look suspicious.

Why is it that the Republicans are about to go under big time...and Boehner is throwing up the same talking points?

Somebody's paying the freight for that in Australia, penfold25...and in America there is no hope to fund anything other than with deeper national debt. We have a constitution that forbids such federal intrusion into state and individual matters, and some of us still take that very seriously. Really, the only way out of the present national and worldwide mess is for Americans to begin to stand together in insisting on limited govt and fiscal responsibility.

But people on here don't blindlessly follow Republicans....Republicans on the national level have done their fair share and then some to lead us to the brink.

QFT - I don't know of ANYBODY in RPF's who blindly follow Republicans. In fact, pretty much ALL of us HATE Republicans. We just happen to be on the same side of this particular issue.

I feel that universal health care is just as bad. The government is forcibly taking kids away from parents when the kids don't want to take chemo, and then forcing the chemo onto them. And now they want to force me to pay for it.

QFT also

So the house passes this abomination through and then the slim majority in the senate utilizes the nuclear option to send this bill to the President's desk? That's how it's going to go down?

This is it, man, they are tightening the communist noose. Time for secession.
