Debate for National Health Care Starts on the House Floor @ 1030 EST / 0730PST 11/7

Tonight's schedule:

1) Vote on the abortion amendment

2) Lip service and voting down on party lines the GOP alternative.

3) The Dems - er, I ment Commies thrust a dagger into the economic heart of the country.

Act 3 would be much more entertaining if they dressed up in robes, chanted some satanic verse and did a ritual sacrifice of Lady Liberty and Lady Justice...

The thing with the abortion amendment. Numerous democrats have said that there is nothing in the legislation that allows federal funding for abortions, yet they still vote against. If that is true, why not just vote for the Stupak amendment?

Here's a comment I found over at Politico. I wish people would wake up, look at history, the state of our country and how this plan is going to be an utter disaster.

My God, what are you people doing. I am a physician from a former socialistic country. I can't believe Americans are willingly destroying their own land. O well, I have many friends who are excellent doctors. We will all take care of each other. For those that support this insanity - you get what you deserve and for the rest - may God have mercy upon you. Soon you all will live the horror that I escaped and I'll be doomed to relive it. But I've been there before. Good luck.

Dubya Bush, Chenney, Rove, DeLay, Regime and the Dumb frigin Sheeple have really screwed this country.

Man the past 400 days have been more destructive than the previous decade.

You sure? Sounded like someone called for a counted vote instead of the voice vote, then the speaker granted it and said "all further action on the amendment is postponed".

Yes - there are 5 Pro-life Dems that are against it if the amendment isn't in there.

I guess you don't watch C-SPAN much. They ALLWAYS call for a recorded vote (unless it's naming a post office or something...), but it's just to get the votes on the record for political reasons. Ammo to use against ppl. I have NEVER seen a recorded vote reverse a voice vote. I suppose it happens sometimes, but I pretty much listen/watch to C-SPAN all the time.

As to the delay - they like to stack the votes back to back, so the votes usually come down fast. Mainly this is so Reps can do other things like committees and be in their offices rather than on the floor and listening to each other.

Ok thanks. Ill take your word for it. No wonder J6P doesn't watch this stuff. It's damn hard to keep track of exactly what's going on.

How many more undecided are there? Only 7 more "no" votes will sink this monster.

It takes a while to get used to, but I mostly understand it now.

If you read an abbreviated version of Roberts Rules of Order, it becomes more clear. It's different, but a lot like that.

Seems appropriate... I might make this my sig again:

...Politics then reigned in Rome. She had her two sisters, Deceit and Greed, as ministers. Under their command, Ignorance, Fanaticism and Fury were seen to prevail in Europe. They brought wretchedness everywhere they went. Reason hid in the bottom of a well, along with her daughter, Truth. No one knew where this well was. If anyone had guessed, he would have gone down into it to cut the throats of mother and daughter.
