CPAC - Straw Poll Today (update: Rand Paul wins!)

In a bit. Now Reince Prebius is up talking about Rand Paul. Praising him to high heavens for his fillibuster.

I've been listening all day and just about every key speaker has mentioned Rand glowingly. It's surreal.

Not just this day but throughout the entire 3 day event speakers have continuously mentioned Rand.

I think that one is a given. I expect it anyways.

It's not a given in a primary but if he got an NRA endorsement months before Iowa caucus and NH primary that would be huge and potential access to tens of thousands of GOP voters.

I don't understand her appeal outside of posing in bikini's with rifles in then Yukon.

Torch, you must remember quite a few here recommending that she be Ron's running mate in '07/'08.

I think primarily she appeals to a lot of Americans because they saw her as someone who was like them and not the establishment. That she seemed to believe in many of the basic ideals and principles that most Americans used to hold.

And then came Bill Kristol to advise her... ugh

The one thing I liked about Palin was fake. My universe makes more sense now. thank you for the info.

You might take another look. Since her rocky and naive start, she has been saying some pretty good and Libertarian things. You only recognize her shallowly for her body, yet today she demonstrated the very ideal of Libertarian self-control with her big gulp stunt. Something I find amusing, yet very poignant. Definitely Libertarian.

She isn't sharp enough for any sort of power, but she's certainly a fine, folksy, spokeswoman for limited government.

Okay. This was the panel:

“CPAC 2013 All Star Panel”

Robert Costa, Washington Editor, National Review
Ralph Hallow, Chief Political Writer, Washington Times
Larry O’Connor, Editor-at-Large, Breitbart News Network/Co-Host, “Mornings on the Mall,” WMAL 105.9 FM
Rusty Humphries, Host, “The Rusty Humphries Show”

They started the panel out by talking about Rand. Said he was was one of the most interesting politicians today. Talked about the drone fillibuster. One guy absolutely ravaged McCain for his response.

Talked about his trip to Israel. One of the members of the panel went on that trip with him. Said Rand absolutely charmed and made friends with the whole group of 30 that went on that trip. And he also charmed and made many friends with Israel leaders while telling them the benefits of not receiving foreign aid from the U.S....lol.

I hope there is a recording. It was a fabulous segment.
