Confirmed: US citizen among those killed in Gaza flotilla raid

Still not sure what that has to do with fighting Egypt. Why would Turkey fight Egypt? It's not like they illegal attacked a humanitarian flotilla flying the flag of Turkey in international waters and killed a number of civilians on board. :p

Egypt and Israel are the two countries which have maintained a state of war with Gaza, and which have maintained a blockade against it.

I haven't seen any evidence of any "illegal" attack of any "humanitarian flotilla". In any event, ships may be boarded and interdicted in international waters if they are attempting to breach a blockade. That's all that happened here.

Feel free to pull out the treaties and we'll have a good old International Law 101 discussion.

Actually, this argument has been refuted a number of times. That you keep trying to make this bunk argument only speaks to the fact that you're here trolling... uhhh... "dispurportionately."

Off with you, child!

The blockade is legal under the rules of war. Israel is at war with Gaza, and has Gaza under a naval interdiction.

Sorry.

Waco was legal too

No, it was a violation of the Posse Comitatus Act, a violation of Texas law including First Degree Murder, manslaughter, and negligent homicide, as well as a violation of numerous titles and sections of federal law. Nice try though.

Sorry.

Actually, the issue is exceptions to the blockade... but no, the blockade is not legal.

You can chant it again and again, jump up and down, scream and shout, pull out both of your hairs, it won't change a thing. :)

Anyway, headed out for the afternoon. Enjoy your weekend, snuggled up close to your pringles can...

Actually, it does not fall into one of the exceptions to blockades. The blockade is legal, and no amount of denying it will change the facts.

Thanks! Cherrio!

well no one was arrested for waco from the govt. my point is something being legal doesn't mean it's right

why should israel stop an aid boat from going to gaza? because they can?

to the extent that you ware shooting and killing people over, what, a misunderstanding over maritime law?

they mey have the legal right but that's not going to help them at all in the court of public opinon, which they need, mainly americans opinions because that is the teet on which they suck

I understand that no one from the government side was charged, but they did break the law, and should have been charged.

I do agree with you that lawfulness does not necessarily indicate justice.

Why should Israel stop the boat? Because ships laden with weapons and munitions have been stopped on the way to Hamas in Gaza, and Israel is at war with Gaza, and justifiably does not wish for the suicide bombing Hamas to be supplied with external weapons.

Israel allows humanitarian aid through, but insists on inspecting ships to ensure that they don't have weapons. It's pretty straightforward.

Sorry to interrupt your flaming session.

This is the picture of Furkan Dogan, the US citizen killed during the raid.

He was 19 years old. Shot 4 times - 3 to the head, 1 to the chest.

Very true. He gave up the protections of U.S. citizenship when he decided to attempt to run a blockade in a war-zone. I'm sorry for his family, but he took this risk on himself.

Unfortunately, your superficial expression of sympathy means nothing and the proof of that certainty will manifest itself in time.

Shame on you!!!

The day you get banned i will drink a bottle of Irish Scotch in your riddance....

This forum advocates NON-INTERVENTIONISM. What this American was attempting to do WAS TO INTERVENE in the domestic affairs of another country.

You urge action on the part of the U.S. government against Israel, and condemn me for asking for the U.S. to remain neutral...

You should watch out for the ban-hammer yourself Mr. George W. Bush.

a war zone? that's a stretch. it's the same occupation it's been since forever except now theres a blockade

As does yours, absolutely nothing. Asking that the United States intervene to avenge a man who took the risk on his own shoulders when he went off on some foreign adventure however, does concern me, and my taxdollars. Leave me and my property the fuck alone. Go and join some interventionist club and go fight the Israelis if you wish, but don't attempt to draw the U.S. into it.

How does lavishing (trillions of dollars?) money from American taxpayers over decades on the state of Israel constitute non-interventionism and neutrality on the part of the American government in your apparently delusional mind?

It doesn't, and all such unconstitutional aid to Israel should immediately be stopped. I've never urged any foreign aid to any country.

Why should the U.S. intervene on behalf of Gaza as you urge?
