CNN Poll Guiliani 16% (?!) Romney 15%, Palin 13%, Ron Paul 12%

With Giuliani out of the race, Romney takes in the top spot at 19 percent with Palin close behind at 15 percent. And with Palin and Giuliani out of the running, Romney's share of the vote increases to 21 percent, with Paul at 15 percent.

Unfortunately the smear campaign against Ron was pretty widespread, and his age would make a bunch of people look elsewhere FIRST, what I am hoping is that they are now concerned enough to keep looking when the warts of the 'fresh faces' are pointed out. Trump was huge for a month, remember?

And now Cain is surging and Bachmann will as she announces, everyone is getting a bump as people get to know them.

According to this data, Ron is someone that a lot of republicans are "pleased, but not enthusiastic" about Ron Paul, and we do well in the negative categories as well. This generally implies his overall positives are high among normal, everyday GOPers, and that in turn means that our "ceiling" of support isn't just limited to libertarians and paleocons. Ron truly can win this election, and get the votes of everyday average republicans.

If you look at the cross-tabs, they took 473 registered Republicans, but ONLY from suburban households in the South and West regions. That stands out as somewhat fishy, to me....

Although, now that I look back at previous polls, he HAS been polling around 10% when he's been included. So maybe with Trump and Huckabee dropping out, he really has gone up to the 15% neighborhood.

Also, 63% of those polled would be at least "pleased but not enthusiastic" if Paul were to be the nominee (20% would be enthusiastic). That's better overall numbers than either Gingrich or Palin and puts Ron in the front of the pack with Romney and Giuliani.
