If ending the wars, giving people freedom to make their own healthcare choices including alternative medicine, stopping the corporate bailouts, ending the domestic police state, ending the empire, ending the war on drugs and getting rid of the NSA, TSA, DHS and "Patriot" act isn't enough for you then we'll have to win it without you. A "progressive sales tax" is a non starter.

Simply because you and a number of other members fail to recognize this fact doesn't mean it isn't so. Unlike 95% of the board members here, one poor stance on an issue isn't enough to turn the majority of voters off. Therefore, Romney is their guy; The healthcare issue won't even matter. Quote me on that.

You're totally wrong. Romneycare + His Mormonism mean that he won't make it past the primary scene. They will go to one of the other generic candidates.

Dude, I can't stand progressives. Your either on board with the message of liberty or not. The entire idea of progressivism is based on the belief that a small group of elites and experts are better able to steer the direction of the country than the stupid, dumb masses. That's the antithesis of what we here believe.

Yes the progressive strategy is doomed to fail. Progressives on the internet tend to be young, young people don't vote. They usually live in liberal states, which vote for Repubs like Romney/Giuliani, not Paul. They won't be willing to switch parties. And it literally takes weeks of convincing them that Paul is the right candidate. The best strategy is the Rand Paul approach, appeal to the small-government Conservatives/Tea Party crowd while it's still popular.

c'mon now. PFP has worked hard to help get his fellow progressives on board. You shouldn't criticize his efforts as he isn't even a small government guy like us. He is a progressive who is willing to help, everything he does to help the cause is gravy.

It's funny how so many on this board say, "yeah we welcome progressives to join the cause and rally around the civil liberties, anti-war candidate, Ron Paul," and when one gets here all you can do is call him a statist and try to convince him of fiscal conservatism....

just focus on getting votes. If he isn't a devout libertarian or even a fiscal conservative, so be it. He is convincing his brethren to support our candidate and we dont need their ideological purity, we merely need their vote.

Great news, in my opnion--2nd place in a more "official" poll behind the typical front-runner? That's pretty good, especially considering heavy campaigning hasn't even started yet and McCain wasn't doing this well, at this point.

It'll be an interesting primary season, for sure.

For progressives, et al: imagine a general election cycle where the true issues and intelligent debate of same is the norm. No muckraking, no spin. If Obama tried ad hominem, it would be Aqua Buddah all over again. It would be like the comment sections where RP supporters show up and suddenly the cheap name-calling turns into an in-depth discussion of Austrian economics or the Just War Theory: everyone throwing mud just shuts up and listens.
