BREAKING: Ron Paul First Place in West Virginia Delegates

With 630 people uncommitted, that just goes to show that many people are expecting some sort of shake-up and waiting to see who comes out alive from Iowa and NH.

Kind of sad in a way that people can't make up their minds on their own, but momentum truly is everything.

HELLYEAH! :D

how many spots are left? gotta make sure we KEEP this victory!

Man when I saw that he was in 3rd the other day, before everything was tallied up, I was feeling a little down. With this news I almost shit my pants. This is fucking amazing, there were a few posters really trying to keep up on this, I really admire them and the people who paid to become delegates. Excellent work.

No if your state holds a traditional primary, the only thing being a delegate will help with is if he wins the state. Then you would get to go to the GOP convention in St. Paul as a national delegate if he won the state.

Well I will try to become a state level delegate then. I have one more question and I want you to know I really appreciate your answers. I've been asking for awhile now and I haven't been able to find out, so thank you. I want to help out and become a state level delegate and go to the GOP convention but I don't understand why delegates are needed or what their role is in the election process. Here's my question: If I get elected as a state level delegate, what will my role be if I go to the GOP convention? How does me being a delegate help Ron Paul win?

I think the idea is to confuse the shit out of any normal person and let the corrupt asshole who made the system keep their crooks in Washington.

You live in Nebraska, right?

Nebraska's May 13th primary (which BTW is the same day as WV's)... will determine which candidate gets to send their delegates to the national GOP convention in St. Paul. They don't need state delegates. I don't believe they have them in Nebraska. But you could become a national delegate for if he wins the state.

I would suggest just spreading the world as much as possible.... since a plurality/majority vote in your primary will determine the state's winner. Just mobilize people to go to the polls and vote. That's all.

I appreciate your sense of humor, but this is confusing enough for normal people that trying to help. If you want to beat the corrupt people in Washington at their own game, please help us normal people out and tell us why we need to be there. A delegate goes to the Republican National Convention and does what? If everything is based on votes, how will being a delegate help Ron Paul win?

You guys are amazing.

Media attention? Don't count on it. If we act as if the grassroots is all there is, we'll be fine. Anything positive from the media is just icing on the cake. They're all drooling over Huckabee right now, and it's a most disgusting display.

This is really simple and not totally correct, but it should help you understand the process a little bit better.

Delegates are selected or elected, and then they choose the state delegates who will go to the RNC and vote for the Presidential nominee.

Again, it's not this simple, but think of a delegate as representing a chunk of the population, and casting a nominating vote as their representative.

yes, Ron Paul should ease off on being anti-war. Ron Paul wipes the other candidates clean when it comes to domestic policy, so he can still win a chunk of pro-war voters on that alone. Only GOP talking about cutting government.

Bad idea, pro-peace is at the core of his message, he should not be hiding this in any way.

We do have state delegates, but they have to be elected at the county level in June after the primaries. I think I could easily become a state delegate. All I would have to do is get some friends to be delegates at the county level to elect me to go to the state level. I'm so close to getting an answer, but I just want to make sure you understand what I'm asking:

If I get elected as a state delegate and go to the GOP National Convention, why will I be going there? What role will I make to impact Ron Paul?

:O I had no idea that's what a delegate does. I thought they just tallied up the votes from all the different states and determined who won that way. So what you are saying is that once a state has selected a nominee by way of popular vote, a delegate then goes and votes again to represent the state? That's complete B.S. The delegate could lie. Are you telling me it all comes down to integrity? Sorry, but if that's the case, I'm doing everything in power to become a delegate.

This is a great accomplishment. Still have lots of work to go. I'm very nervous about a couple of WV's convention rules.

Sec 5.3 12 members of each county's executive committee are automatic delegates. If a county has less than 12 ex committe members then they can appoint delegates to fill their allotment.

According to the delegate list, about half of the WV counties don't have 12 ExCom members. By my count there are as many as 182 delegates that will be appointments.

Sec 7.5 If a county fails to fill all their at-large and bonus delegates then the County Chair can fill all vacancies.

According to the delegate list there are 22 counties that don't have enough delegates to fill their allotment. By my count there are as many as 87 delegates that will be appointments.

Thusfar most of the one making the appointments are not committing to Dr. Paul.

Honestly, each state is different, and has different kinds of delegates and a nominating process. There are bound delegates and unbound delegates. It gets more convoluted the deeper we get into each state's process.

It's best to find out about exactly how your specific state does the process, but yes, the single most important thing you can do for Dr. Paul is become a delegate.

Yea!!!!!!!! Talk about a come from behind finish!!!!!!!!!!!! I sure hope this is the way the primaries unfold.

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YOU ROCK!!!! 1 down 49 to go!

We took majority in Maryland too, 2 down 48 to go.
We can win all the caucus states easily because there require boots on the ground, not name recognition and 100 million dollars like primary states require.

What is your state? Are you a delegate?
