BREAKING: Ron Paul First Place in West Virginia Delegates

It means we have the most delegates signed up to be on the county ballots to the state convention, we have to work really hard the next 30 days on getting everyone elected, but short term we have some bragging rights.

WV is 50th in fundraising for Ron Paul, no paid staff at all, and we are beating 3 campaigns that worked the establishment and had paid state and county coordinators. This is entirely grassroots.

LarryWhite, I told you a couple days ago that you are one of my heroes and I want to say it again. You are awesome. Spirit of '76 too!

In my effort to emulate you, Ive started cold calling and working Oklahoma the same way you have done WV. Ive gotten 8 precinct captains so far (in Tulsa county).

If i can muster the same dedication you have shown, i know i cant fail.

*EDIT: fixed the state, i accidentally said NH instead of WV

what does that imply?

Those are the people we now have to convince to vote for Ron.

I'd say we deserve a visit by Dr. Paul, don't you? Say, Tuesday, February 5th in Charleston...

This is great, but I advocate not telling this to the media. We should keep flying below the radar and hoping the other candidates don't catch on to what's happening, and thus, don't step up their efforts.

There is a discrepancy here.
The total number of delegates in WV is 1446 but the sum of the number of delegates for each candidate is 1478: so there are 31 more delegates allocated.

Thats is AMAZING

To all of whom that worked and put boots on ground to make this happen I thank you deeply. We are on our way and your support makes it possible to say... YES WE CAN WIN!!

Thanks! Glad to hear you're taking action there in Oklahoma. It sounds like you're doing good work.

If there's any way we can help, just say the word.

There are 217 heroes in WV today. Good luck in Oklahoma!

There's no discrepancy. These are people who have filed to be delegates.

For those filing as "At Large" delegates, there will be an election in each county to see which of those filing get to fill that county's apportioned seats.

I'm still not 100% clear why this is such a big deal. Don't delegates just vote for who gets the most votes at the primaries anyway? So if Mitt Romney won with, say, 30% of the vote, won't all those Ron Paul delegates have to vote for Mitt anyway? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

It'll be more than that, these are just delegates that are running for the delegate slots. Example: Kanawha County has over 130+ delegates running for 51 slots.

The final numbers after the January vote will be much different. Many campaigns (including ours) are concentrated in 7 or 8 counties, so whomever wins those will have the majority going into the state convention.

These are delegates to the state convention, where a vote will be taken to determine which candidate gets to appoint 18 of our 30 delegates to the national convention.
