Paris shootings and explosions near Stade de France kill 18

At least 18 people have been killed in several shootings in the French capital, Paris, as well as explosions at the Stade de France.

At least one man opened fire with an automatic gun at the Petit Cambodge restaurant in the 11th district.

Shooting has also been heard near the Bataclan arts centre with reports of hostages have been taken there.

Three explosions are also reported outside a bar near the Stade de France, where France were hosting Germany.

Reports say French President Francois Hollande was watching the match and has been moved to safety.

A BBC journalist at the Petit Cambodge restaurant says he can see 10 people on the road either dead or seriously injured.

He says police have now arrived and sealed off the area.

An eyewitness told Liberation he had heard more than 100 rounds being fired.

It says the gunman has fled the scene.

PARIS — Shootings in central Paris on Friday night have left several people dead and wounded, French television reported, while an explosion near Paris at the country’s main sports stadium forced the hasty evacuation of President François Hollande. The explosion occurred during a France-Germany soccer match.

The shooting broke out at a concert hall. Some reports said as many as 18 had been killed in the 10th and 11th Arrondissements of Paris. Others said hostages had been taken.

It was unclear whether there was a link in any of the violence to terrorism but French media reported that Kalashnikov rifles were involved in the shootings — a favored weapon of militants who have attacked targets in France — and that many rounds were fired.

The shootings occurred near the former headquarters of Charlie Hebdo, the satirical newspaper where shootings in January traumatized France.

Police sirens sounded throughout central Paris on Friday night.

The city of Paris was stricken by a series of terrorist attacks on Friday night. The latest reports have at least 26 dead and many more injured.

Among the targets, the music venue Bataclan, where police say terrorists have taken 60 hostages. According to the venue’s calendar, Eagles of Death Metal were performing a sold-out show at the venue this evening.

Eagles of Death Metal is the collaboration between Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age.

At least 26 people have been killed in Paris after multiple explosions and shootings at least four different locations throughout the French capital, according to reports.

Hostages have also been taken at the Bataclan concert hall, police told Agence France-Presse, where a sold-out rock concert was underway.

Approximately 60 were inside the hall, watching an Eagles of Death Metal show, FR24 reported.

Two people opened fire at the Le Carillon bar, while another shot up the Cambodge restaurant in the city’s 10th district, according to French media cited by the BBC.

The shootings happened along Rue de la Fontaine au roi, Rue de Charonne and Rue Bataclan, Le Figaro reported.

Two explosions were heard at a bar near Stade de France, where France was hosting Germany in a soccer game. President Francois Hollande was there and was taken out by security, Le Figaro reports.

The explosion was loud enough to hear inside the stadium, over the roaring of 75,000 fans, according to an Associated Press reporter at the match.

At least one of the explosions was reportedly carried out by a suicide bomber.
