Yep, I got my first paycheck and laid off the same day.My boss says that it's because there is so little business. She's having to cut back on everything. However, when business picks up again, she'll hire me back on. :o

dude. why did they hire you then? That seems kinda weird.
In other news: unemployment benefits last 99 weeks!
So this company just cost the Government 99 weeks of unemployment.
lolzThen add a few zeros to it before you cash it!
btw, my boss asked me to pray that business picks up again so she can pay all the bills and earn enough to hire me back on. If you want to join me in prayer, that'd be nice of you.![]()
I thought one had to be employed for a set number of weeks to get unemployment benefits? Maybe different in different states?
In my state it's possible. Sadly, I have no other options now. That's the way it works in Indiana, I believe.
HB, do you know if you're eligible to draw unemployment?
Thanks. While I am Deist I will make sure to pray that your fortunes turn around. The bond of liberty is eternal and we have to look out for our own. You guys are all my brothers and sisters.![]()
In my state it's possible. Sadly, I have no other options now. It's $674/month. It sounds like a lot at first, but it doesn't buy much nowadays (especially after a big-ass hunk goes toward paying for essentials).
What state , had you worked all year somewhere else ??Yep, I got my first paycheck and laid off the same day.My boss says that it's because there is so little business. She's having to cut back on everything. However, when business picks up again, she'll hire me back on. :o

Arizona. I hadn't worked anywhere else before. I began looking for work as soon as I graduated in '08 and this was the first gig I could find. Not even the grocery stores are hiring. What state , had you worked all year somewhere else ??
