Already laid off :(

Yep, I got my first paycheck and laid off the same day. :( My boss says that it's because there is so little business. She's having to cut back on everything. However, when business picks up again, she'll hire me back on. :o:toady:

dude. why did they hire you then? That seems kinda weird.

In other news: unemployment benefits last 99 weeks!

So this company just cost the Government 99 weeks of unemployment.

btw, my boss asked me to pray that business picks up again so she can pay all the bills and earn enough to hire me back on. If you want to join me in prayer, that'd be nice of you. :)

sorry to hear that, HB. i've been unemployed for almost a year at one point, so I know how much it blows.

While I am Deist I will make sure to pray that your fortunes turn around. The bond of liberty is eternal and we have to look out for our own. You guys are all my brothers and sisters. :p

I thought one had to be employed for a set number of weeks to get unemployment benefits? Maybe different in different states?

That's the way it works in Indiana, I believe.

HB, do you know if you're eligible to draw unemployment?

dude that sucks. i also worked my first full week last week in 3 months. this week....only 2 days. this is after being hired last week.

In my state it's possible. Sadly, I have no other options now. :( It's $674/month. It sounds like a lot at first, but it doesn't buy much nowadays (especially after a big-ass hunk goes toward paying for essentials).

$674/month doesn't sound like a lot to me. Sounds like squat, unless you're willing to give up those crazy little luxuries like eating and sleeping with a roof over your head. :(

I'm really sorry to hear about your predicament. I hope something turns up for you really soon!

Probably close to twice that a month in my state before taxes , but , yeah , your right , not enough to live on ...

Arizona. I hadn't worked anywhere else before. I began looking for work as soon as I graduated in '08 and this was the first gig I could find. Not even the grocery stores are hiring.
