If you have a choice, make sure that at least some of the land is bottom land. (Unless of course you never intend to grow anything).

Alaska...without doubt; Ron's leading there...not to mention that they have no sales tax and no income tax (YAY! Low taxes).

Plus, people would leave us alone....and we could easily make some nice profits by selling oil. :)

But seriously, where's Ohio in your poll? They're only the most industrialized State in the US...not to mention they have the best farm ground in all the nation.

If all hell breaks loose and we got WW3 going on in our borders and a police state, I'll assess the situation and either high-tail it to the mountains in the Western US, or stand and resist, and possibly die.

We've got some lovely places for you guys in our Kentucky Hills. I think RP is ganna make a good showing here! We are workin hard!

Wait... Is this real? Seriously. Are people really thinking of making a "Ron Paul" town? City? Country?

Are there plans out there for succeeding, or starting a new country? Is it likely to happen? Someone tell me

Personally I always liked the free state project (www.freestateproject.org), however, even if enough people moved to nh to make up a majority (even a vast majority) the feds would never leave the state alone and certainly would never allow a state surrounded by other states to secede. Also, after the recent primaries there, it appears that NH was not the best choice.

Alaska, however, has a population of only 700 thousand and is not at all connected to the rest of the US. Plus, it's large enough. A little tropical island sounds nice, but there are none that are large enough. Remember, even if the polls are right (which I don't believe) and only 3% of the us population wants a libertarian/ron paul kind of country, that's still 3% of 300+ million people --- ~10 million libertarians. A tropical island wouldn't even hold 3% of that 3%, plus, given the pers/mi2, there would be no way to functionally move enough people there to change the political climate.

Oh, and BTW, though I hate the cold, I would even move to an iceberg if it was run as a free (libertarian) country.

Seriously, Kiska or Attu in the Aleution Islands. The Japanese occupied both during WWII and built extensive bunker and tunnel systems that are still intact. A very harsh environment and difficult to survive but, for large scale military operations as well. Lets face it you only want those with that kind of dedication around anyway.
