Adam Kokesh: The next revolution leader?

I met him at Ronstock and I can say he seems pretty much 100% behind our ideas. He is extremely friendly, he is not aggressive at all when you talk to him and he likes to talk a lot. I can not stress how nice of a person he is.
He is one of the main reason why IVAW has not become more political and has stayed for the most part focused on Iraq.
I asked him and he said he was one of the only libertarians in the group.

He is a fighter, that's for sure. I have mentioned several times I think of him as someone who will become a key figure. He is our voice in the overwhelmingly left anti-war movement. He really does believe in Ron Paul's ideas all around, no worries there, he came off to me as a hard core libertarian.

I know one of his roommates posts on this forum, he could tell you all better.

Adam is a strong man, for sure. It took a lot of guts to do what he did. I commend him for his actions.

But, I must ask - why are we constantly looking for new leaders in this movement? Kokesh, Ventura, Barr, Balwin, etc.. Sure, we can use others' actions as motivation.. But if we are to succeed, we must all become leaders.

my .02c, anyways.

+2008

Adam is a great "face" of our big-tent grassroots. He is a man of action and draws media like a magnet. I had the pleasure to spend some time him and was aware of what was executed last night. It was quite exciting to get an "in position" text msg right before, and than see the exploit live on the bar TV, hehe... I was with him afterwards and saw him give a few interviews. His focus on the oath he took is powerful and on point.

More important is nullvalu's comment and the need for us all to step up. Everyone has a gift, find it, and use it...

Now is the time!

We had more than one Founding Father. It's cool to have more than one leader. It's a big tent. There's a lot to do. :)

Adam, the look on McCain's face when he noticed you just as he was accepting the nomination was beyond priceless!!!!

He says in the interview that he doesn't want to help change the party, or even think it possible.

He goes to George Washington University, a private school that cost a heckload of money (about 1,000+ per credit). good for him, i couldnt make that much of a principle stand (I go to public school)

but someone ask him how the school is there? I maybe a freshman but I should hunt out for graduate schools :)

Yeah, too much like John Adams when he spoke about freedom.

I don't know a lot about Kokesh, I'm just worried that he may do something stupid. I am also constantly worried that parts of this movement will be hijacked by violent elements. This seems to be the fate of so many counter-movements.

It's not based on anything besides my own judgement, I simply don't like the look of this guy. I have heard a few of his speeches, and they are pretty aggressive at times - referring to "watering the tree of liberty" and such. I don't like it.

I don't expect most of you to agree, and I'm not trying to push my opinion on you, I just thought I'd share my perspective. As I said, It's based purely my own sense of him, what he says and what I see in his eyes - a lot of anger. Too much. But hey, just my opinion.

Yep he has to tone down his violence talk before I want to listen to him.

he should run for the Senate.

cmon if Joe Biden can do it...

Do you know who rodo1776 is and who he works for?
Perhaps I should just copy and paste my PM response for all those ignorant to those facts right here?

The pm I send to those people who didn't bother to donate, but feel its important they know what happened to other people's money... I send them this bit of info about the person who has been sending me threats since sept. 2007:

message starts here:

Well- first, you unintentional became an agent for my enemies. Congrats. Can't blame you, you haven't been under threats and assaults since back in september 2007.
I have already published everything concerning my switch to a local city council race back in May 2008.
Posted it on the front page of my site. Posted the info in every thread where people were asking...
All the money remaining from the exploration has been put into getting all materials has been used for the city council race. The election for that race will happen no later than 2010, but most likely sooner. The guy in my district is 92 and isn't in the best of health. (harry silver)

Now back to the first part of this response. How you are an unwitting tool for my enemies.

During Januray.February.March, and April, I was given daily threats by a member named rodo1776. daily, he would send threats.... and not just threats, this person knew everything about me, knew everything about every local person I know.. and was constantly threatening me with demonization.... well, that is.. until he heard I was running for city council. Then, his tune changed.
Rodo1776 works in Rodney Alexander's office. He uses a proxy out of Costa Rica and thus claims to be an ex-pat when he was questioned about it. (we have the IP)

Rodo1776 already knew what had happened back in april/may. about my decision not file as a federal candidate, but instead, running locally.

so.. who started this thread you want me to respond to?
Rodo1776.
When did he post this comment?

Hey torchbearer. Just checking up. You ran for congress initially and now decided to go after a 90 year old city councilman in order to have a chance to win.

I think that is a good idea. But can you tell us:

You raised more than 11K running for congress. What have you done with that money?

Did you ever file a FEC form and identify the donations?

Where have you filed expenses for the money you raised from us RP people?

What is your website for your current campain?

How much have you raised from the local people there in La that are working on your new campaign for city council?

Please let us know what is up. Hate to think that you have take advantage of all of us.

GO for it.

He posted it August 1st.

Wait- He knew in great detail what happened... why would he post something like that.. and of course, disappear after posting it, leaving the people who didn't know any better to fall into the trap?

so- this is about to get really long... but, I am about to show you a series of his PM's he sent me back in April.
I have since cleared my sent messages folder to make room for more messages, so you will only see his messages, but i can add it the gist of what he is responding to...

Rodo1776 writes me on 04-26-2008, 04:21 PM

Thanks again for running so you can protect my constitutional rights. Do appreciate it man.

Have not seen you around this week so I had assumed that you were boning up on the FEC laws and were spending time getting straight with
FEDERAL ELECTION LAWS.

Crazy FEC.gov site can still not find you registered properly no matter how I search.

Whats up with that man?

Can you let me know how you are registered? That was a long time ago.

Too bad you have been sitting around posting all day when you could have been:

OUT DOOR KNOCKING OR PHONING AND GETTING SOME VOTES!!

It's a Saturday dude. People are home ready for your message.

I heard that Rodney Alexander was out today in East Carroll Parish talking about The grant he got for them.

Oh well probably not a lot of votes out there in East Carroll.

Hows the alligator hunting?

Any word on that or should I just wait till you finally get around to OBEYING THE LAW AND FILING?

Still have not sent the FEC any mail nor Rodney for that matter. Won't do that but hoping you give everyone an explanation.

P.S.
Police jury spot is open. Could be a good start.

note- this guy from costa rica (supposedly), but knows details that are very specific to my city and parish.
He knows what our county commisioners are called (police jury), he knows where Rodney is shaking hands at... (this was not published anywhere. only way you would know is if you were close to his campaign)

So I respond by telling Rodo1776 that after returning from the April 15th rally, and after recieving no response or funds from people in my district to a direct mail fundraising drive, which consumed a good chunk of my funds, that I had decided to run for city council.
Thus, I choose not to file as a federal candidate, but instead will file as a city candidate... (note, i didn't tell him who my opponent was... nor my city district location)

So- here is rodo1776 response to this info:

Hey best news I've heard all week!

Councilman, District 4, City of Alexandria
All 12 precincts reporting
Click here for Results by Precinct
1,121 44.03% Marc Lampert, D Defeated
1,425 55.97% Harry B. Silver, R Elected

If Silver ain't running or as I saw he may have switched to Dem. then this could be a great spot for you.

I am sorry to have been an asshole.

Frankly as I mentioned you are a young guy. 29 right?

Don't be a three time loser or your political careerer is done.

IF you have volunteers that will get out and door knock and you will too then you can win this.

I have been involved with probably 50 campaigns. I door knocked 1,000's of doors and pounded countless lawn signs.

There is no difference in LA from the state I was involved with. You have to work and have volunteers. With that and some cash you can win.

If the candidate is willing to get out then they can win.

And Brent knocking on doors in the summer in LA can not be fun. But you will find that every 6th 0r 8th door will be a positive experience. This will get you charged up.

You will get lawn sign locations, People willing to give you a few bucks. Shit I don't know but you have got to get out and meet people.

Senior citizens buildings, Kiwanis clubs, boy scouts what the fuck everything.

I would hate to see a young guy like you with so much potential have your career ended.

So that is great you are looking at something different.

Council may not be as interesting as 5th district congress but it is a start and when you are 40 and Rodney is 74 then the seat opens and you have a base.

Mayor of Alexandria is possible too.

I am sure that if you humbly ask your donors and explain what you are doing that nobody will ask for their money back. (but offer that option) and I think that properly worded that you could get a couple of G's extra.

With 10K and you should be able to get that much more off RPF and locally you should have a Nice war chest to win this race.

But I would get the current CD website down and get under the radar of the FEC so you can legally convert the donations to a local run.

Shit asshole that I am I may even send you a few bucks.

Good Luck.

hmm... this threatening agent has now changed his tune, and is in fact supportive of the decision to not run against RODNEY ALEXANDER.
He knows who my opponent is.. what district i am in.. etc..

he then follows up with even more PMs that show he knows way too much about my local situation (remember, he claims to not be from here)

Rodo1776 04-26-2008, 06:02 PM

do it dude. Council ain't bad. It's a good start.

But get ready to buy a new washing machine for all those sweaty shirts after door knocking.

5K slim jim Brent Sanders style (20,000 pieces)
3K lawn signs (and get all the old RP signs you can sent to you to use as bases for your signs)
1K lists and data base shit and reg. fees
3K for food and beer for weekly door knocking events

12K total and you can get more locally.

BUT YOU HAVE TO GET OUT AND KNOCK ON DOORS DUDE.

If you do it will be a spiritual awakening.

As you say think long term. This revolution ain't going to be won overnight.

Anything I can do I'm here.

This guy, who had been sending me threats is now offering to help me write my release for my website, especially if it included me not posting on this forum.

Rodo1776 04-26-2008, 06:06 PM

P.S. as part of your communication it might be a good idea to say somthing like:

I will not be posting during working hours (nor able to respond to PM's) . I have to spend my time out in the field door knocking.

I hope that you can all understand that.

Brent

Rodo1776 then follows-up in May to make sure I am not still planning to run against RODNEY ALEXANDER

rodo1776 05-03-2008, 04:13 PM

Hey Torch, Hope everything is well. What did you guys decide on the council race against Silver?

Are you doing that or what are you thinking?

We need you to win in some spot.

Go for it dude.

and after I reaffirm my committment to the city council race he writes:

rodo1776 05-03-2008, 04:53 PM

sounds great. You can win that and yes get a base.

As young as you are you can be a congressman at 40.

Go for it.

rodo1776 then goes silent for months....

one day, he pops up out of no where and creates a thread acting like he doesn't know what I did back in april. though he did.

I choose not to respond to his bullshit thread for good reason. Instead- I answer everyone through PMs unless they are trolls.
My website would still be up if MDH hadn't gone awol and his servers gone down. I have no email either. He just vanished and so did all my online stuff like my website and emails etc. I lost it all.

All my donors know what is going on... and they are the most important people when it comes to the facts, not anonymous people on the internet who didn't bother to help out.

This is where I stand when it comes to participating in threads whose whole design is to try to cause BS.

The only people I OWED explanations to were the people who donated. And all of them were given a chance to get refunds if they didn't agree with my decision.
No refunds were ever requested. In fact, people were even more excited about the local run...
I could have wasted their money on a losing race, or spend it to win a local one. They agreed that the local win would be better than the congressional loss.
When looking to run for the congressional seat, no one locally supported me. No one wanted to volunteer. None of the richer ron paul supporters would donate because they knew I couldn't beat an incumbent without having huge amounts of funding...
but now, all these people are willing to do all those things for my local run... because they know this is a race I can win.

Hope this covers everything...

Brent

No, I don't know who redo1776 is and who he works for, but he is not the only one in that thread asking for an answer. I don't see the harm in answering the thread if you have a good answer. I think it is only fair that those people expect transparency after they donated money to you. I'm sure you haven't misused the money, so why not put it to rest?

As I said, It's based purely my own sense of him, what he says and what I see in his eyes - a lot of anger. Too much. But hey, just my opinion.

Read my last post where I clearly talk about how kind of a person he is. Sure he gets fiery on stage, he is making a speech and is passionate. When you met him face to face he is not like that at all. its not his normal demeanor. I think his sharp features, which he was born with and can't help, may contribute to your feelings towards him.
I say we can trust him 100% I don't believe he is violent.

I gave transparency to the people who donated. The people acting the most concerned about it are people who didn't do jack shit. Read the long post above.

Oh, I see. It's good to finally see it out in the open. That should put the issue to rest. I am glad to see you vindicated, I think that thread was giving people some doubts, and you should probably post this message there as well to let people know the story and that you are an honest guy. People who have only seen that thread and didn't follow your campaign earlier (I hadn't) could get the wrong impression.

Well, I don't want to respond to his fucking thread... it gives him power.
And yes, He did that thread knowing people wouldn't know what happened, nor know what a stupid fuck he is...

I'm sure you haven't misused the money, so why not put it to rest?

Rephrased... I am sure you have done nothing wrong, so why won't you (waste all your time that could be better spent on real work) prove it to us.

I see this over and over again. Such tall poppy syndrome in the movement.
