Aaron Sorkin: Ron Paul is a "Batsy Old Crank"

I'm horrified at how many people watch serial television. It's mind control. "Programming" as someone else said. Hell, the only reason I check teevee 'news' is to keep an eye on the enemy and see what bullshit 'narrative' they're peddling today.

Also, with regard to the British character. I don't think it's just because the English accent carries more authority. TV news has also hired shitloads of Brits and most are FAR left. I think they're there because the transnational globalists who are trying to influence Americans via media are in sync with British (Orwellian) statism/Fabian socialism/atheism/Marxism/nanny state/surveillance state/gun control/PC anti freedom of speech/moral decay/Tavistock mind control, etc., etc., etc. Present an attractive Brit with charming accent that captures the audience, pump in the whole rotten British political and social culture.

I think we're going to be spied on whatever device we use to watch media/communicate.I bought a new laptop and had to sign up to a microsoft account to access it.I put tape over the built-in camera but I had to give my password to access my email etc. They're centralising all our data and that will be used for tracking and also predictive purposes. The BBC was SUCH leftist propaganda I just couldn't possibly watch it anymore.Haven't had a tv for almost five years.

They are called (by themselves mostly) 'Aunty/Auntie Beeb'.It's a state organ and it's trying to .... us.

on windows 8 you dont need a microsoft account, you can create what's called a local account instead. They try to trick you into thinking a microsoft account is required.

That's awesome, the dipshit is all "fuck freedom, Ron Paul is a racist so freedom is bullshit and we certainly don't need it!"

The only people stupider than the writer of this show are the people that watch it.

The argument seems to be that since privileged, affluent elites can get marijuana easily that it doesn't matter that Ron Paul wants to legalize. Ignoring how marijuana prohibition disproportionately impacts minorities and young people is apparently hip and trendy. The bad man wrote the mean words so screw stopping institutional discrimination and stopping illegal wars.

When I saw this episode, I had a brief flash of rage but after thinking about it, maybe Sorkin did this to show how the MSM treated Ron during the election. Later in that same episode, one of the reporters altered raw video footage to fit his narrative. It seems like an accurate depiction of a National news network.

As a bonus to us, the Ron Paul supporter was pretty hot.

"Anyone hurt?"

"No ma'am. Killed a n*****."

"Oh, well that's good, because sometimes people do get hurt."

-- Mark Twain, Huckleberry Finn

The character speaking in a book or script does not always speak for the writer or the theme of the show. In fact, sometimes a character will always say the *wrong* thing to demonstrate to the audience that whatever he says is the opposite of the truth, i.e. Banky in Chasing Amy.

I almost feel I am watching this show in some sort of third person view if I am describing it right. Kind of like the show is not targeted to me but rather to people that are easily enamored with the career it portrays and the characters. A weak type of average American that easily buys into the propaganda sold on the show or any MSM news network for that matter that will consume the narrative and dialogue for the purpose of echoing it accordingly.

That viewer will pick up on the eye rolls at the mention of Ron Paul's polices, the drunken inarticulate supporter and of course that Ron Paul is a kooky racist. The message was clear to them, if I support Ron Paul policies I will be going against societal norms. The dialogue was perfect in that respect and will serve it's purpose with those folks accordingly.

To me this seemed to be the same strategy set out by Sorkin in this show and West Wing. Progressive education of past history for the low information voter.

I watched the newsroom for 1 episode and realized it was liberal propaganda garbage. Some of my friends love it, but I just can't watch that shit.

Same here.

Well said.

Conditioning and brain-washing. The properly conditioned viewer is now supposed to reflexively recoil at the mention of Ron Paul. Pavlov's dogs.

what is Newsroom? Who is Aaron Sorkin? Apparently not popular enough for me to even know what the hell it is.

See above.

And why the added intro and ending in the OP clip? Isn't there a clip available with just the content of the show?

this is true,
and conversely- windows 7 sets you up with a local account, but if you go into advanced options, you can set 7 up with a microsoft account.

but but he doesn't want clean air or water!

People actually watch this pretentious, self-righteous, thinly-disguised political propaganda?

That's the only reason I watch it occasionally. It's such over-the-top leftist propaganda that you have to see it just to behold it in all it's glory. When every scene filmed in the office of the "Republican" (who only seems to care about blowing up muslims) lead news anchor prominently features a picture of said anchor shaking hands with Obama, well it's sorta like a car wreck that you just can't look away from. It's also an interesting new take on propaganda in that it addresses actual current events but spins them (after the fact) into a democrat friendly narrative every time. It's quite interesting to watch sometimes if you're able to see it for what it is.

eta: Sorkin is a close supporter of Obama. Just google around. He arranges fundraisers with other Hollywood types, speaks at Obama's events, etc. The inclusion of the RP slam is likely to "remind" Democrats that are starting to like Rand of Rand's lineage.

Yeah, srsly! Da fuq? Y'all should've ditched yer TVs like yours truly years ago. Not only is it lame, they will soon be used as Orwellian spy cams ala 1984, I assure you. :(

Mom, Dad, is that you?

Not to be disrespectful, Dad or Mom, but I'm old enough to make my own decisions regarding television now.

And if you (or your little buddy) aren't my Mom or Dad, why the HELL would I want or need your advice regarding my leisure habits?

If you don't like TV, don't watch.

Don't presume you know what's best for the rest of us, because, well, you don't.

There just a bunch of under 30 actors who won't win any good awards. Now if it was done with say Dame Maggie Smith or Kenneth Branaugh. It would be more tolerable.

There's another reason they do that too, which is that they know ideas sound more authoritative, and are more likely to be accepted as true, when said with a BBC English accent. That's why all these American news channels are outsourcing their pundit jobs to people like Piers Morgan, because weak-minded 20-something American Hipster trendies think "accent = sophistication and intellect."
Yeah i prefer the following british Accents: Northern England, Heavy Welsh, General Scottish.
