CLEVELAND (AP) -- The woman's voice was frantic and breathless, and she was choking back tears. "Help me. I'm Amanda Berry," she told a 911 dispatcher. "I've been kidnapped and I've been missing for 10 years and I'm, I'm here, I'm free now."

Those words led police to a house near downtown Cleveland where Berry and two other women who vanished a decade ago were found Monday, elating family members and friends who had longed to see them again.

Authorities later arrested three brothers. They released no names and gave no information about them or what charges they might face. A relative said one of them is the homeowner, his nephew Ariel Castro.

City officials have scheduled a news conference for Tuesday morning.

Police Chief Michael McGrath said he thinks Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight were tied up at the house and held there since they were in their teens or early 20s.

A 6-year-old also was found in the home, but police didn't disclose the child's identity or relationship to anyone in the home. The women appeared to be in good health and were taken to a hospital to be evaluated and be reunited with relatives.

The women's escape and rescue began with a frenzied cry for help.

A neighbor, Charles Ramsey, told WEWS-TV he heard screaming Monday and saw Berry, whom he didn't recognize, at a door that would open only enough to fit a hand through. He said she was trying desperately to get outside and pleaded for help to reach police.

"I heard screaming," he said. "I'm eating my McDonald's. I come outside. I see this girl going nuts trying to get out of a house."

Oh--and even worse, it seems that all the births were miscarriages with the possible exception of one. These guys beat the hell out of them until they aborted. I can only hope they didn't rape the one girl's daughter.

One redeeming feature of our justice system is that these men if ever put in general population jail or prison will meet a timely demise.

This is absolutely terrible. I think they need to be castrated and jailed forever.

It doesn't SEEM like it, though of course the little girl could be blocking it. It's been reported she was calling out for her daddy and was super upset he wasn't around, as if it was just a normal home and she couldn't understand what was going on. Given the ages of the girls when they were kidnapped, maybe the daughter was safe due to still being so young. I share your hope.

Human trafficking is a huge problem. These are just a few entrepreneurs who broke into the market.

That Charles Ramsey is one funny guy.

At least he can make you laugh upon witnessing a horrific abduction case.

I can't even begin to imagine the hell these three ladies went through... God Bless'm.

Elsie Cintron, who lives three houses away, said her daughter once saw a naked woman crawling on her hands and knees in the backyard several years ago and called police. "But they didn't take it seriously," she said.

Another neighbor, Israel Lugo, said he heard pounding on some of the doors of Castro's house, which had plastic bags on the windows, in November 2011. Lugo said officers knocked on the front door, but no one answered. "They walked to the side of the house and then left," he said.

Neighbors also said they would sometimes see Ariel Castro walking a little girl to a neighborhood playground. And Cintron said she once saw a little girl looking out of the house's attic window.

Israel Lugo said he, his family and neighbors called police three times between 2011 and 2012 after seeing disturbing things at the home of Ariel Castro. Lugo lives two houses down from Castro and grew suspicious after neighbors reported seeing naked women on leashes crawling on all fours behind Castro's house.

Lugo said about two years ago his sister told him she heard a woman pounding on a window at Castro's home as if she needed help. When his sister looked up, she saw a woman and a baby standing in a window half covered with a wooden plank. His sister told him and Lugo called the police.

Later, Lugo's mother called the police because Ariel Castro would park his school bus in front of their home and bring bags full of McDonald's and drinks into his home. They wondered why he needed so much food. Police again responded but didn't enter the home.

A third call came from neighborhood women who lived in an apartment building. Those women told Lugo they called police because they saw three young girls crawling on all fours naked with dog leashes around their necks. Three men were controlling them in the backyard. The women told Lugo they waited two hours but police never responded to the calls.

If only they had had some weed.

He is pretty likeable, but from some of the interviews I've heard I think the media is kind of overwhelming him at the moment with all their attention.

Or some balls. Where were the real men, who would walk over and just ask the women if they needed help?

Or investigation. Several calls over the years.. A police response a few times..

no one ever investigated? found cause for a search warrant?

But they will send a SWAT team, kick in doors and shoot the dogs , based on little or no evidence, over a couple grams of plant substance.

Is it correct that these men are all uncles or in-laws to the three missing (now) women or did I misinterpret a related story I read? If so that begs the question why wasn't a connection made that a relative might have been involved in their disappearances, all around a year apart from each other. Additionally, is incest involved in this case?

But in any case, based upon the reports of neighbors (concerning them calling the police for disturbances at the house and for suspicious activity) over the last few years it seems that law enforcement there dropped the ball on this case.

Well, the good news for those three is that after they all finish their prison sentences they will have jobs awaiting them as future DynCorp employees, contracting their services out for the many perverted psychopaths working out of Washington, D.C.
