$100k needed by Friday for Blimp or the media will have a field day laughing at us

Perhaps, I like the blimp idea, but I don't like the way it has been conducted?

I understand...

But at this point, days away, personal likes and dislikes aren't as important as the choice to support or not support. We can't change the way it's been conducted in the next two days... it's either going to happen in a way pretty close to the plan now, or it's not going to happen at all.

If you don't support it, that's SERIOUSLY fine!

But why bother those who do support it?

Ad hominim.....

I am not trying to debate logically with you, I am mocking you.

Change the rules, or in the case defnitions, as you go eh haha. Looks like yet another fallacy, perhaps a false dilemma. Lets pull this out and take a look shall we? Either you love the project of hate the project (didn't Bush say that too??), isn't that what you are saying? Aren't you suggesting there isn't another choice? Perhaps, I like the blimp idea, but I don't like the way it has been conducted? See, false dilemma.

Wow, you think this is some logical debate... I am tired of using logic on the hordes of anti-blimp trolls. You guys are a nnuisance.

Here is soem logic you cant beat, no matter how you define it

If you dont like it, you do not have to donate!

In case you missed it the first 10 times, which obviously you did (is that another ad hominem)

If you dont like it, you do not have to donate!

One more time, for good measure

If you dont like it, you do not have to donate!

In spanish:

¡Si usted se puso lo quiere, usted no tiene que donar!

In french

Si vous avez mis l'aimez, vous n'avez pas à faire don de !

katakana?

もしあなたそれのようなdontならば、あなたは寄付しなくてもよいです!

Please tell me, what part of this english phrase are you not understanding?

And if you do understand it, tell me how your bitching and moaning abotu the way it is being done helps Ron Paul get elected, at all!

Can I ask where you're from? Maybe this makes a difference... I'm not from a big city. I'm from a small college city in Pennsylvania, and I've seen a blimp exactly once in my life that I can remember. It WAS a big deal, people were knocking on doors around campus to come out and see the blimp.

Seriously? The image of people gathering around to gawk at a blimp seems pretty funny to me, but if you say that is the case then I will concede that I am wrong. I see blimps all the time. In fact there is a blimp that flies around my city monthly and I have no idea what it even says on the blimp. I guess it's like when people come down from the mountains into the city and flip out over the skyscrapers. Maybe I'm just spoiled by living in a city. I thought everyone had seen a blimp before.

Yeah, I can do it with no profit taken.

And one particular lawyer, has GOT to go.

But I think the FEC would have a problem with a company that specifically chooses NOT to be non-profit, then states as its goal that it doesn't want to make a profit.

Do I think they ACTUALLY want to rake in profits, as a company? No. But I think they must say that they plan to profit, and not contradict themselves on that point in writing (on a public forum or in private messages/emails), in order to keep it legal.

Do you know the difference between a 501(c)3 Organization

and one that isn't?

Study first. Ask any questions second, and I'll hook you up with the 411.

~~~"I can see clearly now.. the Clinton's gone"~~~
Either way, church or 501c3.... you cannto funnel all the money you want into promotion of a presidential candidate.
I have only seen one in my life. Perhaps they are more frequent in fair weather areas.
Sure, like I said I've seen one, but...
And actually, still only one. I'm living in one of the biggest metropolitan areas of the world now (Seoul), but no blimps here... I'd be excited if I saw one, even here.
And for culture shock, if you're ever going somewhere and need to stay in a hotel in a country-bumpkin town sometime... flick on the local news. I can guarantee you'll see a segment or two that will make you wonder "What the hell?? They sent a camera crew for THAT???" b/c it seems so insignificant. But there's just not much news out in the sticks, usually.
If the local ice cream social, bears eating garbage from people's trash cans, the number of deer hit on the highway lately, and random high school volleyball games get slots on the local news... a blimp in town definitely will.
I'm not sure about Hersheys, but think you meant they're a company that doesn't profit? I know they do lots of charity work, etc.
But Hersheys' primary purpose isn't to advertise a political candidate, falling under the FEC money-limit regulations... Hershey didn't come up with this as a way of getting around regulations, as far as I know anyways... and Hersheys has plenty of employees... it's a bona fide company.
I already talked about Seattle Hempfest in this thread, didn't I?
edit
I do know.
Seattle Hempfest in 2004 changed from a 501c3 tax exempt organization to a LLC
why?
So they could endorse Kerry... and they did.
As a side note, Hempfest experienced the same exact thing. All of the sudden the organizers had sold out man, went all corporate, and "why are we volunteering when they are just in it for the money, man?"
I myself quit volunteering after that year, because they endorsed Kerry, who had a drug policy no different than Bush's.
But I do not doubt their intentions. It wasn't abotu the money, it was about loopholes in McCain feingold.
Sorry, I read the first page and then picked up around page 18 or 20, didn't read everything in between--was teaching my classes here (in Korea), so... actually school finished for the day, I'm going home now, just one more thing... to Mark...
Saw your edit... k cool, got ya.
Heh heh heh... I know why... heh heh heh...
Gotcha Billy Boy...
It was rhetorical originally, but ok... then as a serious question, in that case...
Why bother those who support it?
Seriously... Ok, again, NOT attacking you or anything. I'm not personal at all about arguments... this goes out to anyone who wishes to answer.
When I do things, usually I have a reason for doing them. If I'm just bored and have nothing better to do, I'll watch a movie, call my fiancee, or play some video games... *maybe* even read a message board, sometimes...
But if I'm POSTING on a forum, it's generally b/c I care about something enough to do so... there's a reason for making the posts I do.
So for those taking the effort to post stuff about A) the blimp is not useful/is a bad idea/etc. or B) the blimp has been mismanaged... question: What drives you to make the effort to post about this issue?
If the answer is that blimp supporters are annoying you, well, maybe you can explain how and we can present the blimp in a non-annoying way... (?)
I don't understand why they got such an expensive lawyer to begin with.
They shouldn't be trying to force thier way into any airspace with a blimp! I live in central NJ and I don't think some of you understand how congested the airspace is around here and I seriously doubt people partying at times square would want a blimp over thier heads. How much gun fire can a blimb take before going down? It really could create a serious situation. I wouldn't suggest flying a blimp over a major city at night unless you have some serious altitude. People will think of it as a big ballon and start taking shots at it.
Any lawyer who would suggest something like flying over Times Square at night really should be reavaluated as they don't seem to understand the potential for problems.
It is amazing how many armchair quarterbacks there are for the Blimp project?
People can say what they want - the fact remains these are the only people that have actually done something substantial to get a Blimp project off the ground in time for the early primaries Can you say the same?
As others have already pointed out - support of the Blimp project is not mandatory.
If you don't believe in it, make your concerns known and please move on.
If you continue to second-guess the project time and time again, what is being accomplished for the cause? Wouldn't it be better if you simply left and directed your energy to a project that you can feel good about supporting?
Well, look at that. You have changed my mind about this whole blimp thing. I didn't realize that a blimp was even a big deal. Now I can imagine people running from their outhouses, pants around their ankles blasting at the blimp with their shotguns. Small children hiding under their mother's sundress, weeping in fear. The thought of a blimp has just gotten so much more awesome for me. They should attach speakers to the blimp and blast "Ride of the Valkyries" for maximun effect.
I thought the blimp idea was a bit squirrely to begin with.
When I saw that they were hiring a staff, to include lawyers at $500/hour (with a $10,000 retainer), I knew for darned sure that there were better ways to spend my money supporting Ron Paul.
Haha, it's not THAT bad!! But really, there's just not much news out there. Glad I'm in Seoul now, though the whole nation of Korea is kinda the same way at times--not much news, so the national news is often full of fluff pieces...
By the way, the stories I mentioned are stories I really saw on the news at one time or another.
