$100k needed by Friday for Blimp or the media will have a field day laughing at us

The blimp has already been discussed to no end. Stop with the "I don't like the blimp" comments, as that's not the purpose of the thread. People who pledged need to send in the $$$, that's all.

They hired a "Lawyer for Romney"?

Why is only one lawyer wearing a suit?
All of the members of the legal team have suit costumes for when they go into Caesar's world.

Most of them, however, even in costume, still do not really look like establishment attorneys.

Brad Smith, on the other hand, has a better disguise and has infiltrated himself more deeply

into the establishment, so he wears his costume more often than the rest of the legal team.

Nominated by President Clinton Too

Wake up? Like wake up to the fact that they hired a "Lawyer for Romney"?
]
Doesn't this prove that by charging every one he is not prejudice to any one and that so many different candidates use him means he knows what he is talking about. Also if he is used by so different of groups that they are less able to slander him.IMO

His nomination, however, received strong support from groups and organizations favoring deregulation of campaign finance, including, in addition to Reason, the Wall Street Journal, the Cato Institute, and others

.

I was a fence sitter until I saw that this Blimp project is in peril. Regardless of what you think about the blimp plan itself, the media is aware of the project (ie Wall Street Journal) and please consider donating because the last thing we need just 2 weeks before the tea party is to see something like this on O'reilly:

"And now for tonight's most ridiculous item of the day.

A group of internet Ron Paul supporters had been organizing to fly a massive blimp with their candidate's name on it. Well their 'blimp' is now just a 'blip' as they missed their funding goal by a long shot earlier today despite having *more* than enough money pledged.

Our sources say internal squabbling and a general lack of clarity lead to the project's undoing, but others say that the Paul campaign is just, well, deflating so to speak.

Either way Paul supporters, who are widely seen as annoying and disruptive by other groups on the internet, apparently couldn't agree with *each other* long enough to get this project off the ground. Proving once again that while the internet carries a lot of 'hype' in the media, when it comes results on the ground it simply doesn't deliver."

I say if worse comes to worse you should go to the campaign directly and get them to cover the remainder.

This will not reflect in the failings of the grassroots. The grassroots are paying these people to get the money by the Friday. It is not the grassroots fault if it fails, it is the business that has failed.

Thanks for posting a non-point. All I'm saying is when we make number predictions up front and have sites that have people pledge allows for other candidates supporters to inflate the numbers and make the event look like a failure. I’m not sure why you are attacking me about making this point. It’s not like I’m trying to make anything fail, I donate when I say I will. I just don’t want to unnecessarily give the media ammunition to turn something positive into something negative.

McLane,

I have been saying this stuff for weeks on here now. Trust me no one listens. I begged and pleaded for them not to send out press releases about how much money we were going to raise and wait until after the fact and tell the news how much money we did raise but no one listens. They will call you a troll, pussy all kinds of rude stuff. You can not have an inteleggent conversation in here. Unless you are talking to Liberty Eagle he is cool...

I was never a big supporter fo the blimp and did not pledge. I now think it is a pretty good idea.

If you pledged - PAY UP! Apparently they had more than enough pledges and if you pledged, even with some of the changes that occured with the blimp project, I would own up for the good of getting RP elected over any issues you have with the blimp.

I thought they were getting I little off course, but I now believe the blimp is for real and not some money making scheme. It is an awesome grassroots effort, so please live up to your pledge!

Look up in the sky! -- it's a bird; it's a plane; NO, IT'S THE RON PAUL BLIMP...

We gotta get DA-BLIMP!

It seems like these guys are planning to try and use this blimp to challenge US law by flying over the Super bowl and other restrcited airspace.

This is going to bring horrible publicity to Dr. Paul and his grassroots campaign but more wanted attention to those involved. I was not aware of this until now and think it is a really bad idea.

The general public will look upon such actions in an extremely negative way because they believe that airspace needs to be restrcited to protect them and they are probably right.

Here is a copy/paste of a question and official response from Liberty Political Advertising.

"We have been told that the blimp will fly over the Super Bowl and Times Square for New Years. Has the proper research been done to get the security clearance for these incredibly restricted regions of air space?

Those spaces are restricted for commercial and pleasure flights. This flight is neither. Our first amendment lawyer will help us fight for our free speech right to fly in restricted airspace

I am not trying to debate logically with you, I am mocking you.

Wow, you think this is some logical debate... I am tired of using logic on the hordes of anti-blimp trolls. You guys are a nnuisance.

Here is soem logic you cant beat, no matter how you define it

If you dont like it, you do not have to donate!

In case you missed it the first 10 times, which obviously you did (is that another ad hominem)

If you dont like it, you do not have to donate!

One more time, for good measure

If you dont like it, you do not have to donate!

In spanish:

¡Si usted se puso lo quiere, usted no tiene que donar!

In french

Si vous avez mis l'aimez, vous n'avez pas à faire don de !

katakana?

もしあなたそれのようなdontならば、あなたは寄付しなくてもよいです!

Please tell me, what part of this english phrase are you not understanding?

And if you do understand it, tell me how your bitching and moaning abotu the way it is being done helps Ron Paul get elected, at all!

Seriously, how old are you, 12?

Very doubtful. Whether true or not I don't expect anybody from the mainstream media to bother explaining the minutiae regarding the difference between a PAC and a company and why a failure technically wasn't the failure of the grassroots.

It's the same as that Friends episode where Joey finds an erotic novel in Rachel's room. Joey's the dull mainstream media in this case.

Joey: Okay, look I’m sorry, I went in there to take a nap and I know I shouldn’t have, but you got porn!

Rachel: Hey-hey, y’know what? I don’t care! I’m not ashamed of my book. There’s nothing with a woman enjoying a little…erotica. It’s just a healthy expression of female sexuality, which by the way, you will never understand.

(moment of silence)

Joey: You got porn!

Why will it be viewed negatively? It's a blimp. It's not particularly dangerous. Football games very regularly have blimps, and no one fears for their lives. It's not an issue of safety. It's an issue of corporatism--people who make private contracts with the NFL, allowed a monopoly on airspace (a public commodity) by force of law...

Is there trouble with the chipin link? I'm trying to donate but the link won't load...

Looks to me like the blimp folks bit off more than they can chew, and now the blimp supporters want everyone else to come running to the rescue? No thanks. I've donated the primary limit, but will try to spend my time and money on more productive grassroots efforts.

Forget O'Reilly - Dr. Paul himself knows about it and is excited about it. We can't let him down.

As for Trevor... traditional bundlers would get a commission for the money they bring in. At 10% (sometimes they get as much as 20%) think about what commission Trevor could have been "due" because it was his website... Think about that before you criticize.
