Wyoming is holding caucuses now

Thank you! I hope there are no irregularities in the state of Wyoming. I really don't want a recount so bad I feel compelled to write a summary about it.

I know we're not getting ANY media attention for it, but I just wanted to let you all know that the caucuses have begun in Wyoming and will continue for the next 1 1/2 weeks. We are doing our first ever statewide straw poll. Ron Paul won 2 counties today. Of those counties, one of them will be choosing a national delegate to send to the national convention. We will work hard to win that delegate for Ron Paul. The other county will be sending an alternate delegate and we'll try to win that one as well.

The Ron Paul Campaign does not have an official presence in Wyoming - our core group of supporters are doing all the organizing and I think we're all doing a great job. :)

Excellent to hear, thanks for the update and keep up the good work :)
+rep to you

Looking at those numbers for the areas where Romney's son showed up, it looks like just sending a surrogate could be enough to win.

Imagine if Rand Paul visited Wyoming! The Paul campaign really should send someone there. The campaign seems to not care about straw poll results but the media cares about these straw polls and they help with momentum.

Man, he shoulda stopped in there for a bit. Seems like there was some good potential going there..

Romney's son went to the 2 heavily Mormon counties.

Yes, if Rand Paul came to Casper, WY this week, it would win Casper for Ron Paul AND probably other counties as well. We are use to be ignored by candidates so even when a surrogate comes here, it makes big news across the state. Also, with regards to Rand, most of my Republican friends that do not like Ron, actually love Rand. Go figure. If Rand came here and spoke to them on behalf of his dad, they would come, they would listen, and they just might open their minds towards supporting Ron Paul.

Do you know about the campaign suggestion box subforum? You might want to put some of your good suggestions there.

I know Rand gave a speech in Wyoming last time; I saw it on youtube when I was looking to see 'what he was about' and deciding whether to support his senate run (I did).

If the sorts of numbers you posted hold up throughout the state it looks like Ron will come in third overall. At least we beat the Grinch. Thank you for all your hard work!

Surprised the campaign isn't sending Ron or anyone out there for a day or two. Seems like Wyoming is there for the taking.

I don't know, but a lot of his better states are coming up at once. I wish these were the states that came one at a time, early on, so he could campaign like he did in Iowa and New Hampshire.

He should go to Wyoming for a day instead of spending three days in MI, which he has no chance of winning.

We're keeping track the totals. We fought the GOP earlier this week when they tried to change the straw poll rules in order to keep the individual county results secret. We fought that and they finally relented and agreed to allow the release, county by county, at the actual caucus. I have not heard of the tallies being done out of site and have had supporters in several counties tell me that they were counted in front of everyone. With the secrecy removed at the county level, and the open counting, I am confident that Wyoming will produce legitimate results, no matter who wins. Our straw poll is nonbinding so it's nothing more than a beauty contest, but it's fun and the chance to vote in it has helped to motivate supporters to get out to their caucus.

My greatest disappointment today was in Albany County - home to the University of Wyoming, our only 4 year college in the state. Romney came in 1st, Santorum 2nd, and Paul 3rd. I am greatly disappointed in the obvious lack of youth participation there. They could have made the difference in that county and they failed to stand up, show up, and make their voices heard. :( We had tried to get Ron Paul to come here this past week and had suggested that the University would have been a good location, but given this apathy, I'm glad he didn't waste his time and campaign money in making the visit.

Some extra GOTV work needs to be done to get college students. If it isn't done, you won't get too many college students. Was the bus from the campus to the caucus empty? Oh, no bus? Whatever. Every state scratches their heads when the college students don't show up. But nothing is really done to get them to the caucus or polling place. Wasn't the Albany caucus really early in the morning?

I assume he thinks he has a chance at delegates in specific districts. Maybe it is more than Wyoming's? I don't know. Maybe they just thought of it first.

Ron Paul should be AT the caucus. Ron Paul is a rockstar. People will go to see him.

Yeah, seriously, if 80% of the people that gave money to Ron Paul this year in WY would just SHOW UP, we would not only win the straw poll, we would win it by a mile.

I am all too familiar with this, nevertheless, thank you for working so hard in Wyoming! The process up there, from what I understand, is owned lock, stock, and barrel by the establishment, so ANY result better than 4th is to be celebrated...at least until we take over the establishment. ;)

WY is my chosen bugout location if the wheels come off, so keep it safe for me up there. :p
