Wyoming is holding caucuses now

I assume he thinks he has a chance at delegates in specific districts. Maybe it is more than Wyoming's? I don't know. Maybe they just thought of it first.

I understand going for the delegates.

But we need something that the media calls a "WIN"!

he is doing that in two places in North Dakota this week. There isn't just one day, unfortunately, or one caucus.

The more days the better. Go to the caucus, speak, win, repeat. Ron Paul spoke at 3 caucuses in Maine on Feb 11. He won all 3 caucuses. One caucus was just
one town of 5,000 people. He got 49 votes. In that town in 2008, he got 1 vote.

Those North Dakota caucuses that Ron Paul is going to, they can vote there, at that moment?

I agree but different people think different states give better opportunity of a win, and I don't know how the campaign is deciding that.

that day, they are the 'district conventions' when they pick the people who will pick the people, so to speak. He is speaking at lunch at one, I forget when at the other. I don't think they are like the caucuses where someone speaks for each person. Technically the idea is they are just picking a bunch of people now and the vote comes later, but we all know it doesn't work that way.

Gunny, the straw poll is up for grabs to whoever can get the most registered Republican supporters to show up and vote in it. A win in WY, arguably the MOST "conservative" state in the union, would be a great notch in the belt of the Paul campaign. Also, while at the state convention level what you've heard may still be correct, at the county levels this isn't quite as true. We have a shot at the county level and there are 12 counties each electing 1 delegate to the national convention.

I'm sorry if this is earlier in the thread, but what date is the straw poll?

Yeah, seriously, if 80% of the people that gave money to Ron Paul this year in WY would just SHOW UP, we would not only win the straw poll, we would win it by a mile.

I keep tryign to hammer this message home.

For some reason we have supporters who will not only contribute, but will max out -- and don't even know the rules and that showing up is 100% of how elections are won.

Just on our donor list, we have enough people to landslide every state convention and replace the GOP. But "I won't support the GOP until they talk about MY issue" is the attitude of a lot of losers in this movement. :D

I still don't get the love for Romney and Santorum.

There are a lot of Mormons in some parts of WY. The Romney campaign actually campaigned in WY. Plus, recent reports show that Romney is 2nd best on fiscal issues, after Paul, of course. I think people are voting for Santorum because he is so hateful, lol.

Did Paul not even make the ballot in 08 in Wyoming ? I show no votes for him. He must not really of tried that hard. I guess around 18% or so is what you would expect.

The process is slightly complicated, when I explain it no one cares, and unless you are planning on helping us in Wyoming somehow, should you care? Probably not.

Suffice it to say that in my county Ron Paul won our straw poll in 2008, and I think he won in a couple-few other counties as well. The straw poll doesn't matter for delegates, just like none of the straw polls have so far, except for Nevada's. Being smart, getting the delegates is of course what we focus on, both last time and this. Wyoming's process has a unique awesomeness in that the counties select some of the delegates to national directly! No other layers or hoops. Straight to Tampa. In 2008 we almost sent a Ron Paul delegate to national; sadly, we lost 37-44. No other counties sent a delegate either. We did send a bunch of people to the state convention, where they shut us out and hated us, of course. We'll see what happens this time.
