will Ferguson riots spread nationwide?

Imagine if the British soldiers were as abusive to the Colonists as the thug coward cops in 2014 are to the citizenry within the contemporary police state grid. The revolution would have been swifter, more high-spirited, and more widely participated in.
Cops have been barring the doors to churches and setting them on fire? Where? When? I need to read this.

almost surely the blacks in Ferguson will riot next weekend. already St Louis is expecting it. if these spread nationwide how governors handle it will effect 2016. Agnew was picked because of the MLK riots on 1968.

No. Boobus is still asleep.

I can see the future already. There will be a small group of people (probably dressed in black and covering their faces) that will go around breaking shit. The media will highlight and amplify that small group to garner public support. The police will use that support to beat down everyone else while the country cheers them on. Including some people from these forums. Guarantee that is what happens.

Don't Worry...

'If you're not careful, the newspapers(MS Media) will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing'

--Malcolm X

The small amount of people who will 'riot' will not be doing it for any cause. It's not like they're revolutionaries inspired by an Aus-Rotten song or anything.

Any violence will just be used to convince Americans that they need the police to be even more militarized.

Not necessarily. The American Revolution is an example where a population took increasing measures to combat an oppressor. Education and an out of control British convinced enough colonists to take action.

I think you can start to see a pendulum swing with some American attitudes. Telecommunications technologies (e.g., Youtube) contribute to this.

I don't however, have any notions that a freer society would not go back to the suppression we have now. Things work in cycles. America is however, moving downward in the circle.

Your obvious trolling on this board suggests to me that you would be a Tory in the American Revolution. I'd say nice try, but you and your trolling are pitiful.

rioting helps no one

I think this is absolutely correct.

Once the public sees rioting (ie random beatings, robbery, destruction of private & public property), a response of physical force will seem appropriate. If it's you being robbed or beaten, do you not want the cops to intervene forcefully on your behalf? Or would you prefer to be beaten to death because Michael Brown got shot?

Those who choose not to remain peaceful - even if just a few people - will only damage support for demilitarizing the police.

Using the word "or" makes that a false dichotomy. There were some merchants in the Rodney King riots who had a different response. They protected their businesses with force. I recall some merchants in Ferguson doing the same thing.

There was a well-known photo of Korean merchants protecting their business. I think this is it:

That happens some of the time. But not all of the time or even most of the time. The government does that when it wants to.

To answer the OP's question:

I hope so.

People have been needing to raise hell in the streets for years now.

The only problem is, they will be going after the wrong targets, like innocent motorists who happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, etc. And destroying private property.

Now if they were going after gov't property, cops, cop family members -- that might be the kind of hell raising that might make a difference.

Not that anyone saying so has been doing so.

My first response was to type out an indignant FOAD message and trot out some of my "street action cred" from my festering yoot.

But I realized, you're right, I'm sitting on my ass just as bad as the next guy.

For the worst reasons too, not the least of which being I'm older, fatter and every fucking thing on me hurts, but that I've also got a lot to lose.

So maybe you won't see me throwing Molotovs at the cop tanks...but as I've mentioned before, I think I've come to Phill's way of thinking on this.

When the time comes, I will not be arrested.

I know, you're right, considering what Boobus thinks, it would just end badly.
