I wouldn't go that far - I'm not confusing these two with America. I think the coming hard times are going to FORCE people to be conservative, these two are throwing out masses of contradictory information as to what they can hand out, when in reality, whomever is President (most likely Obama) is going to be left in charge of a country rebuilding at a time when it should have been a world leader.

McCain is a socialist, too. Look at how much taxation and income redistribution there is under either Republicans or Democrats. I think he was referring to rewarding military members with perks that the regular teacher would be denied. I do believe state public schools should certify teachers. When I was younger we has uncertified "babysitters" that were paid for nothing.

Whoever wants the government to 'do something' is a socialist, IMO, be it getting a handout for themselves or their companies, or controlling the contents at their local library, or 'spreading democracy'.

My own father has a socialist streak beginning with his sympathy for unions and a flirtation with Marxism in his youth. He is appalled by today's statism and our bankrupting and has become a RP fan.

I think C4L has potential to spread Constitutionalism to the Democratic Party as well as to the GOP. We need to reach out to 'soft' socialists who also believe in responsible government. They are out there.

The incentive for anyone (even the uncertified) to do a good job is that if they don't they get fired. And let's face it people hire babysitters just to make sure their kids don't kill themselves. And since you're still alive then the babysitter didn't mess up.
