And I really like that idea, btw. I just see a lot of ways it can go wrong based on how people behave. So I'm not saying the idea is bad... only that it needs to be very carefully considered. It needs an algo where neg reps from one to another get less and less weight... and that being an asshat once and getting 100 neg reps in one thread for the same comment doesn't sink someone who is otherwise a good contributor. So I like it, but I think it requires a lot of thought to work the way most people here would want it to work.

Like I said... that was the "short and skinny". I wrote 12 pages on it at one point for a computer science class; got an A. There would be an optimization period where the emergent system breaks in and can be tuned. I have a master plan for all the little contingencies, its an idea thats been shelved for over a decade mostly for lack of finding a message board willing to give it a go.

I believe in having back up means of communication with those I need to in case of a ban.. But, this is an aspect of it that might have not been considered. And should.

This forum has the same problem our government has. Seemingly arbitrary people with who knows what emotional issues or bias views become moderators while true objective arbitrators are not sought after or found or promoted to mod for whatever reason. We need a system where trustworthy arbitrators are developed, rewarded, and utilized.

Every dispute on here should go to some sort of arbitration.

Dude, cajuncocoa has relentlessly lambasted those working within the GOP, all whilst refusing to offer any viable alternative of her own. Frankly I'm surprised the mods hadn't had enough of her divisiveness sooner.

You said "Bannings have consequences", well actions have consequences too. If you turn this into a place to divide those you disagree with, rather than work together to try to achieve something, then you are only hindering any chance of progress.

One, she deserved to be banned about a month ago. Two, she was back on today with one of her sockpuppet accounts and three, I suggested a way for you to get ahold of her. In addition to that, you could ask a Mod to send a message to her for you. They have the emails that people used to establish their accounts.

I guess it also shows that if you are going to work with someone, you probably should have another way to reach them other than just the forum.
