Why We Need the Rule of Law

Of course there should be in a rule of law country. It's only a right if the law says it is.

The Constitution is the law of the land.

Not natural law or God's law. THE CONSTITUTION.

John Quincy Adams -swore on a book of law, with the intention that he was swearing on the constitution

If you want to include the right to secede to re-affirm it as a right, then sure.

But the absence of it does not give anyone the right to deny anyone else's self determination.

Otherwise you're just as bad as the slavers of the South. (... and the slavers of the North, for that matter...)

The sovereignty of the constitution is absolute. If it's not in the bill of rights it's not a right.

In our country the constitution is king. If you come for the king don't miss.

There shouldn't have needed to be an amendment that made slavery illegal but they had to add it otherwise we wouldn't have ended slavery.

We have laws because people don't do the right thing without them.

Ok so if the constitution did say slavery was legal, you'd be fine with it, because it's "constitutional"?

I would like any other law I don't agree with work to change the law through our elections.

There are laws that I haven't agreed with and we changed it through elections.

In my state for example we legalized Marijuana and made forced labor illegal through voting.

You can't do that in an autocracy.

The issue of slavery was one in which the Supreme Court refused to rule against at the time, instead it would have to be imposed by law.

Would you say you are morally opposed to slavery?

Would you say you are morally opposed to this nation's policy of denying the right to secede?

No I don't believe succession should be a constitutional right.

Why would the constitution give a right to succession when the constitution is the king. Would any other king give a right to sucession?

We are not only a union or a United States but we are a united nation of one people.

The motto of the United States is out of many, one.

-with decentralized government and a central government in Washington that has supremacy.

No I don't believe succession should be a constitutional right.

Ok then you are a tyrant, plain and simple.

No better than the slavers of the South.

We can end this discussion here. I've said all I need to say and heard all I need to hear.

Lew is correct as usual, but it's important to point out that the rule of law is essentially order. Sometimes order comes in to conflict with liberty. In those cases, order and tradition must come first. If order requires a strong executive, then so be it.

Trump is restoring the rule of law, and anarchists and leftists who hate the rule of law are now trying to weaponize the skin suit of the old rule of law they murdered to stop him from restoring the rule of law.

It would be funny if it wasn't so evil and sick.

Maybe in a way he will bring it back. He's being somewhat of a dictator honestly. After the left went so far off course, maybe this is what the country needs to correct and get back to normal? I believe whoever follows Trump will a more typical president.
