Why isn't Ron Paul coming to Florida?

Except for the January 24 debate held in Boca Raton, Florida Ron Paul isn't coming to Florida according to the schedule posted at ronpaul2008.com

I believe we need him here in Florida. All the Republican candidates that have won primaries or caucuses have been present and campaigning in the state they won.

Florida is not the place to be. It is winner take all -- and we're not going to get 1st there.

Dr. Paul is going to Louisiana on the 21st, for their Caucuses on the 22nd -- we've got Maine -- then all the other Super Tuesday States.

We've got to focus on states that award delegates on a proportional basis -- or winner take all by congressional district -- that way we keep winning delegates.

Delegates is how you really keep score in presidential politics. The rest is just cheerleading.

Spending 10 days in Florida is the OPPOSITE of what we want to be doing.

He didn't campaign in Michigan either. Florida is going to be a slugfest between McCain, Ghouliani, Romney, and Huckabee....and its winner take all. He has to fight the battles he can win.

Can someone explain the winner take all deal to someone who's not quite so smart (that would be me). I read about it, but still confused.

You're right....still Florida has a lot of snowbirds right now from other states who prefer to be here for the warmer weather....these folks could tell their friends and family back in their home state to support for Ron Paul.

young people are the key I think Lousiana is perfect as they are pretty upset with Big Government right now

Learning FL is winner take all makes me really respect--like to the point of awe--what FL RPR is accomplishing.

I know in each 50 state we'll fight with everything we got no matter what.

Give 'em hell FL. We're making history.

I thought I heard that the delegates from Florida didn't count? They were making a big deal about it on the news because Ghoul was pulling out of all the other states to make his stand there. They all seem quite beside themselves why he would do this. I'm I just really misinformed? I realize I got this from the MSM.

well, lets see ...................? could it possibly be because fucked up florida is a "winner take all" situation and Dr.P is very clearly not in position to win there because of the social conservatives and retired military and cuban immigrants..

I thnk that shud answer ur question, he has bigger fish to fry!

Democratic primary doesn't count. Only the democrats stripped delegates completely from Michigan and Florida. Republican punishment is to strip half the delegates. This is actually pretty devastating to Florida. Florida is huge population wise and very expensive to campaign in. Florida is winner take all and only 57 delegates. Alabama on the other hand is proportional statewide, winner take all in a district with majority, and top two(if no majority in a district, then first place takes 2 delegates and second place takes 1 delegate). Alabama has 48 delegates and is way less expensive than Florida. So it would make much more sense to campaign here since he's bound to take SOME delegates if he doesn't win outright. This election season is all over the place due to stripped delegates. It's going to be especially crazy if Paul or Giuliani took Florida. If Huck takes Florida, I bet he has a pretty good lead after Feb 5th. Same with McCain.

this is up to grass roots entirly

With it being a winner take all state grass roots has the full responsibility of the showing of Ron Paul.
Good luck and GOTV

Canvass and call

QFT.

I agree with all the posters here.

With the winner-take-all format, it doesn't make any sense to campaign there. We're not going to get first. Rudy's been there so long and is so broke he's probably collecting welfare from Florida!

I know it sounds dumb to just "skip" states, but let's be honest......the whole process is pretty dumb.

Considering that Florida is a winner take all state, and that the delegate battle will be between McCain and Romney. Shouldn't we be supporting Giuliani here? It seems a Giuliani win here will almost assure us a brokered convention, which is exactly what we want in lieu of an outright win.

Florida, as with Michigan, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Wyoming all have had half of thier delegates taken away for, I think, moving thier dates ahead to much.

Yes.

The other key thing to remember, while the big 4 are in FL slugging it out. They are spending tons of money. This is GOOD news for us! We can go to states like LA and get some candidates while spending a fraction of what the others spend.

This is going to drain them of money just before Super Tuesday with 22 states voting the same day. With a strong grass roots operation we could have a stronger presence in many of the smaller states enabling us to get more delegates and forcing the MSM to give RP more face time.

The NY Giants lost the first 2 games of the season, then turned around and won 6 straight. They won enough games to make it into the playoffs as a wild card team and now they are going to play in the Super Bowl.

Nothing is impossible!
