Why isn't Ron Paul coming to Florida?

I agree that the official Ron Paul campaign shouldn't spend resources in Florida. However, if the grassroots can at least stir up some support, it would have a lot of clout heading into Feb 5th for neighboring states like Alabama.

Florida is not the place to be. It is winner take all -- and we're not going to get 1st there.

Dr. Paul is going to Louisiana on the 21st, for their Caucuses on the 22nd -- we've got Maine -- then all the other Super Tuesday States.

We've got to focus on states that award delegates on a proportional basis -- or winner take all by congressional district -- that way we keep winning delegates.

Delegates is how you really keep score in presidential politics. The rest is just cheerleading.

Spending 10 days in Florida is the OPPOSITE of what we want to be doing.

You are absolutely right. We need to concentrate on the States where we can win delegates. The local media (Fox News) reported that all of the Republican candidates are here in Florida which only included Giuliani, McCain, Mitt Romney, and Huckabee -- Ron Paul and Fred Thompson were not included. The media is pumping up Giuliani as expected with a lot of free air time. I do not think it will do Giuliani a lot of good at this stage of the game.

we dont want to compete with rudy. ket him win that state, so that that mcain and Mitt dont get the delegates lololol

The strategy is a good one....

Dr. Paul's strategy is a good one.... We can still be a huge influence in FL and positively effect our efforts in the future while at the same time undermining our opponets in FL. IMO, (and the opinion of many others) GHouliani's days are numbered, he will probably throw in the towel after FL... If I am not mistaken he is basically out of money.... as the field narrows more and more people will turn to support Ron. Focusing on the future while the rest of the field self destructs and goes broke is good. Let them beat themselves, then Ron cane gain greater support in future states. We just have to make it through "the dip" as marketer Seth Godin would say....

yep... but if the grass roots can some how pull off a supprise win for paul in florida..... that would make alot of underwear get soiled....

its free to wave signs and hand out flyers... so get out there and give it your best yall!!

While it stands right now that these early primary states are losing half their delegates, I assure you, the state party in FL is positive that these cut delegates WILL be seated. They're profoundly sure of it. I wouldn't count on FL only having half of it's delegates.

With it being a winner take all state grass roots has the full responsibility of the showing of Ron Paul.
Good luck and GOTV

Canvass and call

That's right. And more people need to be talking about him everywhere. People in FL can't sit idly by while Rudy lies to the entire state.

We need to ensure 10% or higher in FL with or without the campaigns help. I completely understand not wanting to spend resources here since it seems likely that with the way delegates are given (winner take all) they would be better spent elsewhere.

However, I believe that the 2nd place finish in Nevada was great momentum for an hour until SC came in and we had 4%. 10% in FL would greatly increase competitiveness on Super Tuesday. I think Ron's biggest liability is "electability". Low single digits in major states influence fenceleaners in other states to not vote their conscience whether we want to believe that or not it is true.

Within the past couple days I was able to get two absentee voters to vote for Ron Paul in FL. They both liked his ideas and thought he had the best solutions to the problems facing this country but were going to vote for Romney because they didn't think Ron had a chance (and desperately didn't want McCain or Ghoul to be the nominee so they wanted to vote for the person they believed had the best chance at beating those two out). They ended up voting for Ron but not because I was able to convert them politically (they already wanted to vote for him) but because I told them to voice their beliefs now and they could always vote for the R frontrunner in November (of course I won't let that happen then if Ron happens to run 3rd party but it was what needed to be said now ;)).

So basically what I am saying is that I believe it is going to get a little harder from here on out. Many, many conservatives do not want to see McCain or Ghoul, the two liberals in conservative clothing get the nomination. Most of these people rationalize their vote for Romney or thompson or even huck in this manner even though many like Ron. We need to make sure we do well in Florida and every other state or people are going to go with the lesser of two evils mindset.

Good Luck!

Giving & to RP2008 is the best thing we can do today

As exampled by Romney, $$ is the key to staying in ... outlasting the others and have an organized GOTV in each state. RP is in Louisiana because it's like NV, no one else is paying attention .. and they don't have the $$ to do it. Please give your max today, especially considering it's the MLK Money Bomb! He needs $21 million more FAST to make the campaign strategy work!!!!
