Why does the US love Israel?

Short answer: Money

The religion is a small part of it, but money is 95% of the answer. Politicians route 100s of millions of dollars to Isreal and the lobbyist route millions of dollars back to the politicians. If it was illegal for policy makers to take money from foreign lobbyist, would wouldn't hear much about Isreal.

The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy by John J. Mearsheimer of the University of Chicago and Stephen M. Walt of Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government

These two professors (one of them being Jewish) had the guts to stand up and say something. Of course, they were labeled everything from "misinformed" to "anti-semites". Fact of the matter is, Israel is currently a strategic liability. AIPAC is the strongest lobby in the country. If you vote against any of their proposals, your career as a politician is as good as done. That's why so many politicians are afraid to go against them. Oh, and the money that they pour into politician's pockets is also a big reason. The media doesn't help either. Have a politician go out and say something bad about Israel, and watch the backlash. It's frightening to say the least.

The globalist and elite bankers are more evil than Hitler...
I fully agree. I seem to recall reading somewhere that bankers funded Hitler's war against the Soviets. He was raging against "Judeo-Bolshevism"-a popular thing to hate in Germany at the time. I do know there was extreme inflation of German currency during the war.

The reason the average voter supports Israel is religion. That's almost always what they are reduced to when I argue the topic with them.

Those in power might have other motives but boobus supports Israel because of the bible.

I've had this experience too. The mainstream protestant types I've met and/or listened to clearly have no idea what the bible actually says and what it means. Less so with Catholics and Orthodox. I don't know any atheist Israel-firsters or Zionists, but they probably exist.

Many US Christians feel it is their duty to protect Israel because 'the Bible says so'. In reality, it's due to a gross misinterpretation of Old Testament prophecy, combined with severely flawed eschatological theology, namely Dispensationalism/Futurism.

The OT Lord/God was a zionist. While many Christians aren’t zionist, they still consider the OT holy writ, giving zionism some degree of legitimacy.

I asked my mom this the other day. She's one of those seriously crazy baptist people that doesn't believe in any kind of evolution even though she used to own a Cockapoo (Cocker Spaniel and Poodle mix, for those of you who don't know). Anyway, she says if we turn our back on Israel and "God's people", God will turn His back on us.

So that's the religious voters' reason.

Please watch the video I posted earlier in the thread. God had a plan for mankind, of whom He deemed Abraham and his seed the most fitting to carry out the plan. 'Seed', as in singular, for this was a prophetic statement referring to Christ, who fulfilled God's promise to Israel.

Here's the thing. If you start going down this path, you will appear to look anti-semitic. It leads you into thinking all these weird conspiracies about "jews". Regardless of the validity of any of these conspiracies, simply the public shaming will prevent you from questioning our relationship with Israel. It would be political sucide if a politician did this.

Again, I don't think it matters if any of you suscribe to conspiracy theories, what matters is that they are allowed to exist. The mere fact that people are afraid to ask certain questions tells you there is something wrong with our society. Government, the State, THRIVES in this environment.

Because of the legacy of WWII, people are afraid to appear anti-semitic. It leads politicians to go overboard in the opposite direction. They have to out-support-Israel the next guy. You don't have to believe any conspiracy theories to believe that. It's a naturally occurring problem in human nature. This problem of human nature has been been on overdrive since WWII. Curious... Isn't this about the same time the ideas of Liberty started to vanish?

(By the way, if you're interested, this is also why Hitler truly was an agent of the devil. Think about this. Think about the Bastiat quote in my sig.)

I agree with you on not referencing Jews. Instead point out the difference between Zionists and Judaism. Opposing Israel should have nothing to do with Semites. Send the person you are arguing with to this video:

Simple: Israel has an un-revokable "endorsement" from God. That is, the State of Israel is immune to any criticisms no matter how heinous their acts of barbarism are. Pretty good gig if you can get it.
