Why Does RP do good in the States Mitt does?

It's because Romney and RP are both from the small government branch of the Republican party. This means the inner-mountain west but also new hampshire and Maine. These areas have a general mistrust and dislike of big government and they are not religious social conservatives like in the south.

Romney forced people in his state to buy health insurance, whether they wanted it or not. Even fining them if they didn't buy it. And he created a new department of government to support it, and and the government subsidizes the insurance. It sounds like socialist/liberal government to me.
Plus he supported amnesty cities for illegals. On the business side, Bain capital buys up companies, cuts heads, sends jobs overseas to cut costs, and sells off the parts. Else the jobs he keeps are the lowest paying ones, he wants the cheapest labor possible, and illegals fit the bill, especially if given amnesty. He's the worst of all worlds.
