Who gave Sabrin my email?

Comments like that are so stupid. I know I know, stupid comments on a forum, welcome to the internet...

Why is it a stupid comment? I was merely joking at the notion that people are suprised/angry that somehow their email was picked up.

I think it is naive to think that you can use your email address around the internet and not pickup unsolicited emails. If you are under the impression that I approve of this, then you are mistaken, and I hope that the people who are getting this email from this campaign weren't conned into giving their email out, or that someone didn't give them out.

Hopefully it wasn't an insider, such as Trevor, who you are all carelessly blaming without a shred of proof. Let's not blindly point fingers.

That is why I (and most other people) recommend having 2 email addresses, one that you only use for personal reasons, and one that you use for signing up places, etc.

Nothing stupid about that, nor a reason to insult me.

Who is Trevor and what does he do?

If you're using the "Who is your daddy, and what does he do?" quote from Kindergarten Cop, then bravo! :D

If not, he is the person behind the larger money bombs. He setup the websites where people submitted their email addresses to signup for the money bomb.

Can't be Trevor. I've signed up for just about every moneybomb to date, including the original, and I have yet to receive any emails about Sabrin. Except for one on January 30th and February 7th, which were from the TeaParty mailer.

I am also getting emails from Lew rockwell (supposedly, for some reason I don't believe it) yet I didn't sign up to get emails from him.

I don't trust it's really Lew Rockwell.

You guys who are getting the emails, did you signup on that UltimateRonPaul site? I heard that it was ran by a guy who sells those types of lists. Maybe Sabrin's campaign bought what he sold, not knowing how he went about getting it? Or, what about all those mini-money bomb sites that sprung up? Did you signup on those? Maybe one of those were shady.

Again, simply speculation.

Trevor Lyman, the guy that organized the Nov 5th money bomb

Okay, it wasn't Trevor then because I am only signed up as precinct captain.

I've actually called headquarters to discuss possible data mining from the precinct captain list and how our private information could be obtained by anyone.

nope, didn't sign up for any other Ron Paul sites other than this forum and precinct captain.

It's stupid because you diminish the content of the post with nothing meaningful to add.

We "all" aren't blaming this Trevor dude, because I've never signed up for anything of his. I don't give my "real" email out to very many places, only the ones I trust completely. So when the places I trust completely abuse my "real" email address, yeah, that is cause to be upset/annoyed.

I suspect that the RP campaign gave the Sabrin campaign its email list, which is awesome in my book, because in order to elect more Ron Paul Republicans, they will need to be able to tap that resource. We are the base and the engine of the movement, and for it to spread, Ron Paul followers looking to join the government and spread the movement need access to us.

The spam comes directly from the Sabrin campaign, which is being a bit overzealous in reaching out to the Ron Paul grassroots, as well as from people who had access to the precinct captain contacts, such as (it seems to me) campagin volunteers, etc. I've gotten mass emails from people with regular (i.e. personal) emails referring to the precinct captains, etc.

Again, I don't mind campaign coordinators emailing the precinct captains now and again with important info, etc. But the level of spam is something else entirely.

So, I am pretty sure the spam comes from the precinct captain list (which various RP campaign volunteers that had access to it are getting a bit trigger happy with using) and the Sabrin campaign itself (which somehow got either the RP email list or the same precinct captain list).

Either way, cut the damn spam out.

Just do what I do and mark it as spam.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that a kickass Ron Paul Republican is running competitively for the US Senate and I have to block his messages as spam, I'd rather hear the things he has to say to the Revolution in a reasonable manner. But given the choice between hearing about things later/not at all and spam about stupid things, I suppose you are right.

That's why you keep multiple email addresses
Anyone who's signed up at porn sites knows this

And now we get to see just how bad the problem of data theft is at the campaign...

Another example, Berin. Do you know this? Here's a baseless assumption I can't imagine you have any knowledge of. It might be true, but might it make more sense to call the campaign and ask first?

the problem with that is, under the precinct captain program, you cannot edit your email, your phone number, your address so whoever data mines this has all of that information. Not just your email.

The person could have hired someone to sift through and copy all the names, phone numbers and addresses of precinct captains.

On top of that, anyone can access this information by signing up. I'm against having this information out in the open because it's open for anyone to read including those who don't like Ron Paul and their supporters.

What is the email address that is sending them?

I don't get any, and I've signed up for all moneybombs, donated to Paul, and donated to Murray.

I'm more concerned about how organizations like the "Nationalist Times" and "National Alliance" got my snail mail address.
