Why is it a stupid comment? I was merely joking at the notion that people are suprised/angry that somehow their email was picked up.
I think it is naive to think that you can use your email address around the internet and not pickup unsolicited emails. If you are under the impression that I approve of this, then you are mistaken, and I hope that the people who are getting this email from this campaign weren't conned into giving their email out, or that someone didn't give them out.
Hopefully it wasn't an insider, such as Trevor, who you are all carelessly blaming without a shred of proof. Let's not blindly point fingers.
That is why I (and most other people) recommend having 2 email addresses, one that you only use for personal reasons, and one that you use for signing up places, etc.
Nothing stupid about that, nor a reason to insult me.
It's stupid because you diminish the content of the post with nothing meaningful to add.
We "all" aren't blaming this Trevor dude, because I've never signed up for anything of his. I don't give my "real" email out to very many places, only the ones I trust completely. So when the places I trust completely abuse my "real" email address, yeah, that is cause to be upset/annoyed.
I suspect that the RP campaign gave the Sabrin campaign its email list, which is awesome in my book, because in order to elect more Ron Paul Republicans, they will need to be able to tap that resource. We are the base and the engine of the movement, and for it to spread, Ron Paul followers looking to join the government and spread the movement need access to us.
The spam comes directly from the Sabrin campaign, which is being a bit overzealous in reaching out to the Ron Paul grassroots, as well as from people who had access to the precinct captain contacts, such as (it seems to me) campagin volunteers, etc. I've gotten mass emails from people with regular (i.e. personal) emails referring to the precinct captains, etc.
Again, I don't mind campaign coordinators emailing the precinct captains now and again with important info, etc. But the level of spam is something else entirely.
So, I am pretty sure the spam comes from the precinct captain list (which various RP campaign volunteers that had access to it are getting a bit trigger happy with using) and the Sabrin campaign itself (which somehow got either the RP email list or the same precinct captain list).
Either way, cut the damn spam out.
