This thread is starting to exhibit all the traits of a thread that is going to cause a disruption, split ranks and waste good-natured supporters' time.

There is nothing wrong with asking the question or debating this topic, but I'd ask all of you who are getting the emails and are pissed, to use the delete button. Or unsubscribe.

I'm not going to lock the thread or anything, but I see this becoming one of those problem threads just based on my experience Mod'ing here.

If you see what I mean, please discontinue posting thoughts/conjectures/questions on it. If you feel inclined to continue stirring the pot, I'm not going to stop it (though I and many others many not like it).

You have to realize by now (and being a mod here I have to believe you are painfully aware) that if there's one thing Ron Paul supporters are likely to have in common, it is an opinionated nature and strong independent streak.

Given that, you shouldn't be surprised when stuff like this comes up.

I also realize that personality plays a part in all of it to - some are more willing to deal with certain things than others by nature. But if the Ron Paul campaign isn't itself a "rank splitting disruption" of the status quo, I don't know what is.

Many of us don't appreciate having to accept a given situation and "deal with it", be it something big like the state of the economy or wars, or relatively minor such as unwanted email.

Devil21, I appreciate you giving me the benefit of the doubt. I'm certainly not always right, but I'm not intentionally trying to deceive either.

I had forgotten about the email that Dr. Paul sent to his supporters on behalf of Walter Jones. He and Walter have been friends for many years, and as the article stated, he's often helped his friends.

FEC regs being what they are, in order for Dr. Paul to send an email to his own list on behalf of Walter Jones, he would have had to charge him fair market value to send it. That does NOT however, mean that Walter Jones now has Dr. Paul's mailing list.

Ron Paul is starting to give like-minded candidates a taste of the political gold he discovered on the Internet by lending his endorsement and renting out his donor list.

A previously little-known Texas congressman with a libertarian bent, Paul had raised $32 million for his quixotic bid for the Republican presidential nomination through the end of January, a figure that dwarfed the totals of several Democratic and Republican candidates who began the race with much higher profiles.

He created an online sensation with his platform of limited government, expansive individual liberties and withdrawal from Iraq and international organizations. More than $6 million came into his coffers on a single day in December through a "moneybomb" Internet fundraising effort.

That haul of cash has not translated into victory in primaries or caucuses, but it has built a political base for Paul -- and, perhaps more important, a donor list -- that would be the envy of any incumbent or challenger. (Paul, by the way, faces a primary challenger of his own in Texas on Tuesday).

Murray Sabrin, a New Jersey Senate candidate who has been endorsed by Paul, is expecting a "moneybomb" from his own backers and Paul's this Friday. Sabrin has raised $194,260 since launching his campaign last month, according to a calculator on his Web site.

"We're working hard to cultivate his previous donors and Murray's previous donors and donors across the country," said Sabrin consultant Adam Alonso.

Republican Rep. Walter B. Jones, a fellow Iraq war critic who faces a tough primary challenge in North Carolina coastal 3rd District, has rented access to Paul's list of donors in the state.

But Paul's imprimatur was not limited to the list itself: He sent out an e-mail soliciting help for Jones last week.

Jones said he already has raised about $5,000 from Paul supporters, which is not an insubstantial figure in a relatively inexpensive market. Jones had raised $192,185 through the end of December, and his rival for the GOP nomination, Joe McLaughlin, had collected $78,278.

Paul says lending a hand to his friends is old hat but acknowledges it's a bigger hat these days.

"I've been helping people for a long time. Nothing new about it," he said during a brief interview in the Capitol on Tuesday. "The degree might be different but the principle's the same."

Paul's presidential spokesman said the campaign is still in the process of figuring out how best to make full use of its massive list of campaign donors.

"A likely use would be to help candidates for office who are running on a constitutionalist platform," Jesse Benton said. "It will go to a good use."

Though Paul is winding down his presidential bid as he focuses on winning re-election A-A--- he also has rented his donor list to his own congressional campaign -- he wants to have an impact on the direction of his party.

One way to do that is to aid the campaigns of colleagues and congressional challengers who share his outlook on politics.

"We put together a movement and that movement is going to continue," Benton said.

Dear Friends:

It has now been almost a month since the majority of Maine municipal Republican caucuses were held. As you probably know Ron Paul did very well. He came in third in the presidential preference poll, edged out by John McCain by a very slim margin. The winner of the preference poll, Mitt Romney has ended his candidacy and thrown his support to John McCain. Ron Paul has conceded that there is now little chance of a brokered convention, but has pledged to continue his campaign to bring his message of peace, freedom and prosperity to the Republican convention. The prize now is to have a significant influence in the future direction of the Republican party.

All of you who were part of our effort in Maine should be very proud of what you achieved. However our work is not yet over. The presidential preference polls at the Maine Republican Caucuses on Feb 1st, 2nd and 3rd were an indicator of grass roots support, but have no impact on the selection of delegates to the State GOP convention. Our campaign actually did better than McCain in electing delegates. Those delegates will elect delegates to the Republican National Convention at the state convention on May 2nd and 3rd. Our task now is to spread Ron Paul's message by electing national convention delegates. We now have two months to organize our effort to accomplish this task. Here are some details of what we are doing:

State Convention Delegates

Stavros Mendros has remained on staff to assist with organizing our delegates. If you are a precinct leader and have a list of Paul delegates selected at your municipal caucus (even if it is just you) please e-mail their names and town to [email protected] . If you are a delegate, but don't have a Ron Paul precinct leader in your town, please do the same.

Delegate fees are due to the Maine Republican Party no later than March 27th. The fee is $25 and pays for the cost of attending the convention, both delegates and alternates must pay the fee to attend the convention. Some GOP town and city committees are asking for checks from individuals sooner. Please cooperate if you can. If you cannot pay the fee, please email [email protected] with your name and town. We have already paid the Maine GOP for delegate fees from the campaign, but there is still some unallocated money available.

Stay in touch with your local meetup groups. These groups are now for delegate organization and should be limited to volunteers and delegates.

If you are not a delegate, but would like to be one, please e-mail [email protected] . There is still an opportunity to fill some delegate slots by March 20th.

State Convention preparation
