I keep trying to call in to the number, and I get one ring then disconnected.

I just wanted to comment how sick I am of hearing morons call in and talk about "our democracy" and correct the record.

Democracy - a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.

I didn't mean for this to go into a debate about democracy. I was just looking for an answer as to why C-SPAN cannot be reached via the call-in line they keep announcing. But, since you mention it... How come our pledge of allegiance doesn't say "... and to the democracy for which it stands..." ?

And go on with, "One nation, under government, with liberty and justice for all."

I'm sure that if the socialist Francis Bellamy had known back in 1892 about the distinction you're drawing, he would have used the word "democracy" instead, to leave no room for doubt as to his intentions.

Important fix here...

"Democracy - a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives."

Maybe, just "maybe", if this was the honest case. But it is not. And this is why our founders chose a Republican form of government instead... :)

Have you called in before? They may have you in their notes as someone they should be ignoring.

CSPAN is propaganda just like the rest. Tax dollars should not be subsidizing either CSPAN or PBS for this reason. When is PBS going to give "Equal time" counter to their Chinese "communist program is great!" propaganda agenda? As a taxpayer I demand this, the monotonous "Communist China is great!" is starting to piss me off.

Just one of the great things about the Cratic Republik of Oyarde is that there are no weapons laws observed . As an example , I have a sleeve that will fit in a 12 Ga and you can shoot .410's out of it if out of ammo without having to get the 20 Ga muzzle loader out to seek a Thanksgiving turkey . They did not teach that shit in shop class at publix skools.

I'd guess that since the narrative of, well, everything is being tightly controlled at this point in time, C-SPAN wouldn't be any different. I haven't watched it lately but I'd expect that soon the "callers" will be mostly plants with scripted questions. That's the direction everything is heading...

According to wikipedia

Democracy is a system of government where the citizens exercise power by voting. In a direct democracy, the citizens as a whole form a governing body and vote directly on each issue. In a representative democracy the citizens elect representatives from among themselves.

So yea, we have people voting for their representatives who then advocate for the interests of the people who voted them in. And I know you think the interests of the minority is protected but only to some extent. I say this because just about every protection can be repelled with enough people voting. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd and all the amendments can be repelled.

Also, they way they say it, a republic is one and the same with a democracy. Think about it, can you name me any country that is a democracy and also not a republic(i.e. also have a constitution that generally protects the rights of the people)?

Iran has a constitution that protects zero rights of the people and gives ownership of everything to the state and it calls itself a republic so I do not think what people call it makes it better .

Give evidence for the bolded part or I would assume u are making shit up.

But below is a portion of the Iranian constitution.

Chapter III [Article 19 to 42]: The Rights of the People
Article 23 of the Iranian constitution holds that “the investigation of individuals’ beliefs is forbidden, and no one may be molested or taken to task simply for holding a certain belief.”

Article 24 "Publications and the press are free to discuss issues unless such is deemed harmful to the principles of Islam or the rights of the public. The law shall determine the details of this exception." [18]

Article 27 provides for freedom of assembly, "provided arms are not carried" and the assemblies "are not detrimental to the fundamental principles of Islam".

Article 37 provides for the presumption of innocence, stating: "Innocence is to be presumed, and no one is to be held guilty of a charge unless his or her guilt has been established by a competent court."

Article 29 [Welfare benefits] is a universal right of all to enjoy social insurance or other forms of security for retirement, unemployment, old-age disability, lack of guardianship, being a wayfarer, accident and the need for health and treatment services and medical care. The government, in accordance with the laws and by drawing on national revenues, is required to provide such insurance and economic protection to each and every citizen of the country.

Even though it is an Islamic republic, it still has protection for religious minorities like the Jews and Christians(unlike Saudi Arabia and other ME arab countries)

Important note here... Even though OUR constitution includes similar language, when was the last time you have seen them read it right and actually respect it?

And yet some here idolize Iran.

Who here idolizes Iran? Again, no evidence that what Oyarde said is even true but knowing that you shill the hell for Trump, its not surprising that you would come in and trying to demonize Iran. I think Iran and their people should be free to trade with who ever they want to, build weapons to defend themselves and organize their society in a way that pleases them.

You don't have to agree with it but at the same time, you must refrain from attacking them for doing so.
