What "soundbites" do you want to hear tonite

Let's be a good neighbor, mind our own business.

Let's save our money for our senior citizens.

Let's stop giving money to illegal immigrants so they don't come here.

Let's not elect a president of the world we just need one for the United States.

Let's be a good example and get off the list of nations who use torture.

I have never voted to spend your social security money and I will keep it safe.

Terrorists should be treated like pirates. Nations should be treated like neighbors.

Freedom in Iraq can only be won by the Iraqis. Freedom in America must be preserved by Americans.

A balanced budget is the start of prosperity. A sound dollar is the basis of our freedom.

We accomplished our mission in Iraq. It's time to come home.

The people of Iraq deserve their own destiny and so do we.

"I promise you this, we can no longer afford this occupation. It will end. For the safety of our soldiers, we must end it on our terms, not on the terms of our creditors. No soldier will be safe when the checks start bouncing."

"It's time we stop looking at Washington, DC for answers to our education crisis. We need to keep education funding and decision making local. Teachers and Parents- not Bureaucrats and Lobbyists."

"People don't want to hear doom and gloom about the economy.- and I am not here to do that, but I am not going to overlook this looming obstacle. I am optimistic about our future because of the strength of the American people- not because of some half-baked plan out of Washington DC. If you did accounting like the government does, you'd be in jail. My plan is to let you keep more of your money, reduce spending to keep our dollar strong, and not let federal regulations hamstring growth. My plan is nothing more than free market capitalism. They call me old fashioned for believing in such things, but I think most Americans feel the same way I do. That the farmer knows how to plant, the teacher knows how to teach, the pastor knows our to preach, the businessman knows how to conduct business- the politicians should know how to stay out of their way."

these are great!

My fav that I wish he would use is Harry Browne's old line: "War is the ultimate big government project." and point out that it is impossible to be both pro-war and a fiscal conservative.

"So you want the government to intervene, where do you want it to stop? Over seas? In your schools? in your church, in your business, in your homes...."

You can have your empire and your 100 years war, or you can have your SS checks. You can't have both, and anyone telling you that you can, is lying to you.

We REALLY are fighting a battle against socialists McCain and Hillary. They will promise to keep the SS checks coming in, and it seems to me that the people we need to focus on are the elderly retired seniors who are voting to keep the checks coming.

Ron Paul needs to hit them with the fear of God, to keep stressing louder and more often about how the SS fund is gone, there is no money, and there is no way to insure that the checks will keep coming under everyone else's plan. He needs to stress that HE is the only one that will guarantee the obligation and promise of the US government to the retirees. I know he has said it before, but for some reason, it is not being heard.

He needs to make damn sure tonight that this message is being heard.

The more radical the change the more clearly the people need to see in their own minds the specifics of that change. Dr. Paul proposes some very radical ideas and the voters need to be able to envision the consequences very clearly. Dr. Paul the visionary statesman must speak with clear vision imparting many images to the people to give them the courage and boldness to support him.

Pictures change minds.

Am I the only one that doesn't hope to hear RP's usual soundbite about the Dept. of Education? I completely agree with him on that issue, but it doesn't play well without a lengthy explanation I think. Most people are like, but isn't education good?

The only sound bite I want to hear is "Congressman Paul, another question for you."

Watch the speech Rudy gave for his exit earlier today - he specifically made some jabs at Paul (without naming him) in regards to "wishing the enemy away". He said the global terror threat is real and we need to continue the fight in Iraq. He is on his way to CA to repeat that message during the debate to help prop up McCain. Be prepared with some very short soundbites..

- Many other countries in the world are free and prosperous (name a few here..) but do you see terrorists actively fighting a war with them? No. Why? Because they haven't spent the last 50 years meddling in the affairs of the middle eastern countries.

- The longer we are in the middle east, the more the terrorists will grow in numbers.

- Russia has said "An invasion of Iran is an invasion of Russia" and yet McCain will not rule out an invasion of Iran.

- If we're in Iraq for another 100 years like McCain wants then social security will be bankrupt in a matter of years.

- Would you rather the US have military bases in peaceful Germany, Japan, etc - or see your social security checks? By bringing our military home to our own soil we would save vast sums of money, create jobs here in the US, as well as make our country more secure.

Say "end big government" many, many times.
Don't talk about the constitution - the average person doesn't know what that talk is about.

Don't talk about ending the Dept. of Education - talk about ending "no child left behind". Start small.

At the same time, he needs to stress the importance of a STRONG national defense. This is where he seems to be weakest. He also needs to come out with a plan for dealing with the world and the threats around the world. He really needs to push the doctrine of Marque and Reprisal, and educate the American People as to it's value for a President, and to mention his support for an amendment or legislation to give the president the power of the Letter of Marque and Reprisal. That alone could stun the opposition.. I'm not sure how they would counter it except to mock and say "that's for pirates".

I don't even think that any of them would know what it is... seriously.

Just awesome.

I am hopeful the changes in campaign staff will be quite apparent to us tonight. We've already seen great changes advertising and communication.

This is what I want to be said

"I am going to put it like this America, if you elect ANYONE else besides me any money that you are saving RIGHT NOW will end up worth nothing. No matter how much free money these candidates promise you will NOT make up for the collapse of our dollar"

another one is this

"I still dont understand WHEN the republican party was so focused on starting wars but here is how you MUST look at it. If you as a party want to continue fighting wars then guess what we need to FIRST save money up before we can continue strong arming other countries out of their sovereignty"

and this one

"If I promised everyone in America a brand new car once I became president would you believe me? Odds are no because you would ask "how could you afford it?" now switch the word "car" for any of the following "universal health care" "preemptive attacks" "nation building" and wake up because what these candidate are feeding you is nothing but EMPTY promises. We dont have the money to fund these wars and policing the world, giving anyone who wants it free money in the form of welfare whether legal OR illegal. Whether we want to do all of these things WE CANT because we dont have the money to do so!".

I don't even think that any of them would know what it is... seriously.

True that... he doesn't have to mention "Letter of Marque and Reprisal" by name... but he could say "We have a Constitutional tool to OBLITERATE terrorism right now, but the President and the Congress both refuse to use it.... believe me when I say, I WILL USE IT TO CRUSH THOSE WHO WOULD ATTACK US, WITH SHOCK AND AWE LIKE THEY'VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE".

That ought to wake everyone up! lol

My personal favourites are:

"I promise you this, we can no longer afford this occupation. It will end. For the safety of our soldiers, we must end it on our terms, not on the terms of our creditors. No soldier will be safe when the checks start bouncing."
- It's clear, concise and puts the war in eceonmic terms while putting the emphasis on the safety of our soldiers abroad.

You can have your empire and your 100 years war, or you can have your SS checks. You can't have both, and anyone telling you that you can, is lying to you.
- Same as above and has the added bonus of calling McCain a liar without saying it directly.

I would really like to see Dr. Paul SUMMARIZE his answers before he gives them as concisely as possible. His answers are great but the average voter has the IQ of rat feces. If he wants to ramble on about economics (making very good points as he does so) that's great but before he starts he should give a 5-10 second summary.

Eg. Economics: Less money spent abroad means more money for Americans...continues with long explanation

Eg. War on Terror: Our current way of doing things has been Al Qaeda's biggest recruiter ...continues on with his points.

Do we really want our soldiers in Iraq when the checks start bouncing? ...continues

Why doesn't the government want parents to be in charge of their children's education?

The "bridge to nowhere" costs a day and a half of Iraq and John wants us in Iraq for a hundred years? What kind of straight-talk is that? (plagiurised from an earlier post)

A vote for any other candidate is a vote for a democrat in republicans clothing.

The plan to stimulate the economy is great, but unless we cut back on superfluous spending we might as well call them as they are: WELFARE CHECKS.

I kind of like the quote Ron Paul has repeated at several rallies in the past...

"I don't know HOW to run your life, I don't WANT to run your life, I don't have the AUTHORITY to run your life, and the Constitution doesn't PERMIT me to run your life!" *cheers and applause*

Tie that in with "smaller government" and allowing people to have control of their own lives again.

Here's one....

"Had I been president, Osama Bin Laden would have been stopped at Tora Bora, instead of being allowed to escape to Pakistan. Pakistan harbors terrorists, and we fund Pakistan... If I am president, we will stop funding countries that harbor terrorists!".

Ron Paul can have his own brand of truly effective anti-terrorism rhetoric. That's what it's going to take folks. Speak to the terror issue.

Americans are so goddamned afraid of their own shadow, they forget that as Dr. Paul has pointed out, we stood down the Soviets with their 40,000 nukes, but yet we are worried about some desert dwellers with no battleships, no ICBMs, etc.

Edited: "Pakistan harbors AND funds terrorists, and we CURRENTLY fund Pakistan... If I am president, we will IMMEDIATELY stop funding countries that harbor terrorists!.... THAT MONEY will be brought home to fund our SENIORS!"

Re: the issue of leaving chaos behind if we leave Iraq:

"That is not our mess. It is the mess of the United Nations. Let the United Nations clean up the mess they created. Yes, since we acquiesced and temporarily gave into the U.N. and helped them make the mess, we have some responsibility for the clean up. Therefore, we will help fund the United Nations for 2 more years while they clean up THEIR mess, but we will not further put our troops into harms way to promote UN resolutions. We will not be a party to any more of these UN quagmires."
