McCain has the Republican nomination sewn up. Will Ron Paul run as an independent? Will he seek the Libertarian nomination?

Nope, it is not over for Paul.
First off, McCain wins nothing until the delegates vote at the convention.
Second off, Paul seems to be getting more delegates than McCain, at least in Texas.
Third off, Paul has his seat in congress all tied up.

We need to keep pushign forward toward the convention. Keep getting people to sign up as precinct leaders and find more people to donate.
If we could come up with another 6 million dollar day, that would show that Paul has real support and at this point it may start to sway some other notable conservatives that hate mccain to our side!!

I love it when you people arise from no where with these questions. RP WILL NOT SEEK A THIRD PARTY RUN, THE REVOLUTION GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE CONVENTION.

Who the fuck are you and where the hell have you been all this time. SHEEEEEEEESH

More delegates in Texas than McCain? Doesn't look like it. CNN says that McCain is getting 121 delegates in Texas with Huckabee taking 16 and zero for Ron Paul who got five percent of the vote with 100% of the votes reported.

They give Ron Paul a total of 21 in the country. McCain has 1,289- enough to secure the nomination.

The numbers they report mean nothing, except that the delegates are "supposed" to vote for mccain.

Well said. McCain has the less than half of the PLEDGED(or committed) delegates he needs to win the convention.

Who would vote for an idiot such as McCain?

I think its time to get realistic.

Ron Paul should ride it out so that he can speak at the convention, but i believe the majority of his time should now be spent publishing books, essays, and promoting other "liberty candidates." He should form more coalitions for certain causes (ending IRS, ending Iraq war, protecting civil liberties, free market) within congress as well.

All of these things will help us spread his message, since that is what it has always been about anyway. I hear he has a "manifesto" coming out soon.

As for us, we should vote for other "liberty" candidates, no matter what party they are in, and should start to look at maybe Ron Paul's (Rand) son as a future uniter.

Not to be antagonistic but McCain has been dominating in the primaries since S. Carolina. The people voting are everyday citizens who have decided to go with McCain versus our guy. Not my choice but as they say - the majority rules. Like I said before, I'm selling the Pinto and heading to Lazyapolis for the handouts.

Disclaimer: I have done a TON, financially and otherwise for RP, and I still am: On Saturday at 8AM I am attending our county convention (Douglas County, NV) with many family members and friends who are also delegates and alternates. And we plan on going to state and then being one of 34 and go to St. Paul. So I am not giving up on restoring the GOP. But like the founders, I think we need to get away from parties--that's more important. And I am a real supporter, because I would give thousands more and do tons more if he declared indy.

You still think something can happen at the convention? Here... The important part of this is: 1. 80% of delegates come from Primary states, 2. more than 80% of those delegates will be pledged, 3. those states are almost all winner-take-all, 4. McCain gets to research and approve (choose basically) all those delegates, 5. Ron Paul only got 5% average in all those primaries, and did not win any of them outright.

The most important part is: 86%-95% of the voters and delegates voted for a pro-war, non-Paul candidate. Even if we won half of Romney's people and half of Huckabee's people (extremely, ridiculously, stupidly unlikely) we would still only have like 30% of the delegates. And 80% of Republicans pro-war (thus very anti-Paul), so they would never vote for Ron Paul--even if McCain died, and Romney and Huckabee--it doesn't matter--they would choose many other people before they would ever choose Ron Paul.
