I only watch the following: Discovery, History, NGC, Travel, TV Land, and occasionally the scrambled channels where if you look really hard, you can see a boobie.
You make me laugh.

If you are all going to agree that viewing all tv is bad then you have to say the same about You Tube videos that we've learned so much from. Not all tv is crap, just most of it, but if watched properly it can be a great educational tool. I mainly just watch historical programs, documentaries and classic boxing, for me anything else is a waste.
After Feb 5th 08 (Super Tuesday) I got rid of my cable box and just do NetFlix. I haven't watched TV in almost a year.
Now I cannot stand to be in the same room when broadcast/cable TV is on; especially the news. It makes me want to scream, yell, and throw things at the TV even on the most average unimportant stories. Why? Because their shallowness, ignorance promotion, and bland propaganda has become crystal clear.
If you quit watching TV (especially the news) for a month or two, and then go back to watching it, things will become exceptionally transparent, and you will feel the same rage I promise!
Father leaves it on all the time. That shit dumbs me down and makes me forget my Austrian Economics and the other historical things I read, that and the public school. 5 months..., 5 months.

That is soooooo 1993HA!! Man, I remember those days when we had our huge satellite dish, where as a young teen, I also watched my first scrambled boobies. I didn't know they still make those dishes![]()
And then it explodes, right? If there is porn on the TV, my head gets bigger and turns purple.
I don't know if I agree with what the information in the OP says, but I do know that too much Internet browsing can lead to this (especially here on Liberty Forest):

rumor is that the explosion occurs after light friction is applied consistently for a few minutes. That is soooooo 1993

Bah... minutes? What about seconds? :orumor is that the explosion occurs after light friction is applied consistently for a few minutes.![]()

Absolutely agreed!! I experience the same phenomenon. I used to be a cable news junkie. Even when I wasn't watching it, it was on. Since I stopped watching, I have zero tolerance for it. I honestly cannot stand to watch any cable news channel for more than a minute or two at the most. In addition to the garbage peddling & propaganda that you mention above, the channels are too disorienting with the graphics, constant rapid movements, and sound effects.
Yes, very much so. I think there is a lot of sociology that goes into this nonsense.Turning off cable news has definitely impacted my ability to carry on a conversation with people who are still cable news addicts. I just don't have any frame of reference anymore. They bring up 1 news story after another, expecting me to mirror their reaction. They have wonderful memory for what is reported, and then emotionally react in the way that the report is delivered. I think the information cited in the original post is spot on regarding the effects of TV on the brain.
