What are you listening to?

I freakin' love this song

The old devils are at it again.
Who knows what they'll do.
It's true right now like it was back then.
The old devils are at it again.
From behind these bars the view don't change.
Desperation death and despair.
From what little I hear of the outside world.
Well it's not to different out there.
And they tell me there's a war without no end.

The old devils are at it again.
They die by the millions children women and men.
The old devils are at it again.
When I say devil you know
Who I mean these animals in the dark
Malicious politicians with nefarious schemes
Charlatans and crooked cops
The moonshine still gives you five to ten

The old devils are at it again.
Stripes on your back and a ball and chain
The old devils are at it again.
Two men stare out of prison bars wonderin' what got 'em here.
One saw mud but the other saw stars.
Prayin' that the end is near.
Well the billboard outside says "confess your sins"
The old devils are at it again.
I guess I will confess that I've been sufferin'.

The old devils are at it again.
I said 'The old devils are at it again'.
Who knows what they'll do.
And it's true right now like it was back then.
The old devils are at it again.
I said 'The old devils are at it again'.

New Queensryche:

Geoff Tate's Queensryche

Michael Wilton, Eddie Jackson, Scott Rockenfield, and Todd LaTorre's Queensryche

Which incarnation of Queensryche is better? You be the judge.

If the RPFs could somehow be put into a musical context it might sound something like this...

Starting at 2:00 is where a thread really gets interesting/frightening/enlightening.;):D

Not surprisingly, it sounds like a Geoff Tate solo album and a bad Queensryche cover band. For what it is, the Geoff Tate song is better and easier to listen to. The Tateless Queensryche song has an awful chorus. Switching to a major key for the chorus melody is bad form in a minor key metal sing, let alone just being an unpleasant, monotone melody.

Queensryche started going down hill on the last song of Mindcrime, where they started a song (Eyes of a Stranger) with a happy major key. Didn't feel right then, and it's been a long downhill slide ever since.

I liked Empire, but I can see how it was a huge departure from 80s Queensryche. Promised Land was a turd though, and Queenrsryche never did anything remotely listenable after that. I still check in on them every two years though just to be disappointed. Here's some Goodryche.

Here's a song I listened to during my workout this morning. More inferior hair metal from a tribute-version of a real band!
