Damn it! I can't find any information on who these people support and who is working on this.

If we need horse and carraige rides ready, we need volunteers!

Do they Vote?

I've never known them to vote, but I could be totally wrong. I hope someone knows.

They usually don't vote, but when they do, they vote Republican. I read this somewhere.

The Amish would LOVE the message. I wonder if there is a way we can reach them.

They're off the grid. The only way to reach them would be door-to-door. Or some Amish event. I can think of better things to do than chase a demographic that probably isn't going to vote.

If I remember correctly they dont vote, but I dont know if it's part of their doctrine. Mennonites might vote, and they might be a good target.

First we need to find out if they vote at all. If they do, door to door is an excellent way to reach people. There are areas in some states that are almost all Amish.

I don't know... maybe they don't vote.. but I can tell you, having lived in PA near Lancaster, that if they decide to do something, THEY GET IT DONE... You should see them put up a barn in 1 day... they'd be the most solid supporters ever. None of this not showing up cuz nobody called me crap

Dude, have you ever been in Amish communities? You'll spend more time driving farm to farm than you will talking with a voter. Jeez...I thought RP supporters were smart!

Dude, Evidently you dont think my idea is a good one. You are entitled to that. But why do you feel you must insult me?

If you have actually been to one yourself, you'd know these people are amazingly communal... so if you convert only a few of them, there's a massive chance they'll spread the message like wildfire. You won't need to drive to all of them...

I'm new to the Hillsdale area but so far one person I asked said that sometimes the Amish do get involved in politics.

Amish teachings to not preclude the act of voting. They do not participate in the Social Security system and they do not join the military.

Reaching out to Amish voters would start with familiarizing yourself with active Amish voters, and going from there...

Obviously, Ron Paul would be an attractive candidate to Amish voters.

yes they are......they are like an rp movement.....they do get the word out.....

another thing they are trying to do to the amish....make them use public transportation now....
people can be fined for giving them rides to town for their shopping.....this is in pa.....

This is a really good idea (not sure about if it would apply in NH though). There are more Amish in Ohio than anywhere else. They don't usually vote, but when they do, they all come out to vote. They turned out in 2004 for Bush because of the perception that Kerry was pro-gay marriage (my analysis).

I was actually thinking of canvassing at Plymouth Pantations here in Mass, they will tell you its 1642 and they dont know what the federal government even is, buts its worth a shot...
