We will never be mainstream

This is a pivotal moment in more than one way.

The NEW MEDIA is taking over.

The first use of "generational shift" that I heard was Mickelson in IA yesterday. He is correct. This is a generational shift, from the old way of getting information to the new way of getting information.

To restore freedom and liberty, the old media has to be left behind because of their (now revealed and well documented) habit of distorting the truth to fit an agenda.

The shift from old media to new media is changing that. And because truth is now available without old media distortions, this freedom movement has caught on fire.

A Pew research study after I think 2004 showed that 50% of voters used sources other than mainstream media to get their info on candidates (comedy shows and internet, about 25% for each). Even back in 2004, only about 50% got their candidate info from the old media.

Think how many of our supporters are YOUNG and this will be their FIRST election.

Times have changed, a lot, since 2004.

We have such a great shot at winning this thing it actually makes me dizzy sometimes.

Or maybe I'm having a mini stroke.

The OP may be right...we may NEVER be mainstream enough to wake up the old media.

However, just think how much we have already accomplished. Mike Huckabee is talking about abolishing the IRS. Most of the candidates at the debate were talking about making abortion a state-by-state issue. John McCain is lashing out because it is becoming increasingly clear that America as a whole wants out of this quagmire of a war.

We are winning! Dr. Paul may not be the elected President by this time next year, but the ideas of limited government and personal responsibility are spreading.

"No army can stop and idea whose time has come" --Ron Paul

Our voices can no longer be ignored. Our ideas are now in the public debate, which can only help keep the momentum going.

You are either awake to the reality of the kind of world we are living in, or you are living in the past. America underwent a coup, it simply wasn't broadcast, but everyone with a pulse and an IQ to the right hand side of the bell curve at least senses it if nothing else.

Can we take it back, like they took it from us, only honorably and with justice and truth on our side?

I don't know, but if I didn't have hope that we could I wouldn't spend another minute or dollar on this campaign and I am way more jaded and cynical than the average RP supporter and I'm still in this thing.

Divine Providence has saved this world from the forces of darkness before and it can happen again.

HANG IN THERE GUYS, IT'S NOT OVER 'TIL IT'S OVER.

Just stay angry and determined. They ignore us because they believe it will break our spirit and persuade the Ron Paul Republicans to quit. We will be the UNDERDOG until the end. We are the Appalachian State, written off before the game even started, only to shock the world in front of 100,000 fans in the Big House in Ann Arbor. We are just like the men and women who fought for this country back in 1776, ignored, laughed at, and written off before the first shot was fired. We have the ability to change history, to make a huge impact on the future of this country. Let's come together, ignore the bullshit and win this fucking thing!!!

I think OP is a little too pessimistic. It's true that there are some venues where we will never get a fair hearing. But looking at overall volume of media coverage, we've made considerable strides in just the past month. For example, if you count the number of hits you get when you search Google News for 'ron paul', we've roughly doubled in a month (from 3000 or so end of October to 6000 now). Yes, we haven't caught up to Giuliani or Romney yet. But there is strong positive movement.

I have been following this campaign rather closely since about August. I have noticed that we continue to plan events and say "This will be the tipping point, they cannot ignore us after this event. This will be the thing that makes us mainstream!"

At first I believed it, for several of the events. For a day of two after Nov 5th, I thought we had finally done it, we were now top-tier. Within a few days RP's name had completly dropped out of the news and we were back to where we started as far as MSM recognition goes. It is going to be the same thing regardless of what this campaign achieves. I think we need to stop deluding ourselves into thinking that there is any possibility that we will be propelled into mainstream media success.

Ron Paul has won the majority of Straw polls. He has won every debate. He had the largest single day fundraiser in GOP history. He has the largest rally's out of all candidates. He had 5,000 in philadelphia. He is going to outraise every candidate in this quarter. His platform reflects popular opinion more then any other candidate. etc etc etc

It doesn't matter. They marginalize us and ignore us. Get it? There is NOTHING we can do to gain mainstream credibility. We can raise 10 million on the 16th. We can outraise hillary clinton for the quarter. We can win New Hampshire and get 3rd in Iowa. They will discredit it and ignore us at every chance they get. There are some powerful people controlling most MSM outlets, and for whatever reason our agenda is the exact opposite of thier agenda.

Get it? This campaign can only be successful by targeting voters individually. We cannot count on the MSM for anything, except to smear us and slander us. It is not going to change.

Yes this is very disheartening. Yes this makes me want to punch a wall. But it is reality. Sorry for the ranting, but I just wanted to get this off my chest. Feel free to rate this one star or whatever...

It seems to me like you're the one who doesn't get it. You named all the reasons that we have mainstream credibility. But you seem to think that if the media isn't reporting on it, it isn't happening. That isn't the case.

I wouldn't consider google news MSM. They have alot of news sources they search, some MSM, some not.

We clearly own the new media, no questions asked. Unfortunatly, most Americans still get their news from the old media. Times are changing quickly though.

That picture should be our official logo

No, I dont think this whatsoever, and I'm not sure how you got this idea. I was simply pointing out that the old media DOESN'T give us even close to equal coverage, and I dont see it changing.

He is right.

Everywhere you turn the shills on this show or that show are calling us or Dr. Paul a kook, weirdo... They say the message is terrible, yet they do no research on the message.

the MSM, and powers that be just do NOT WANT RON PAUL to win. We have seen it all over. When the MSM is pushing someone like Huckabee, I mean really -- what does that tell you. THEY DO NOT WANT ANYONE OVERTURNING THE APPLECART!

THE MSM is immensly strong and they are the "propaganda" machine of the special interests..

but, we gotta keep going......

I wouldn't put it past the MSM to find a way to discredit us, even then.

BrandonYates is right - this war will be fought in small battles, winning over individuals though personal interaction and hard work.

Which has been my point all along. I sure as hell ain't out here for the exercise...

m- pedal, pedal...

How about this...
Become a delegate, I say this a hundred times a day. A delegate is literally worth at least 50,000 votes if not more.
If i'm selected a delegate, I will be one of 6 people representing an entire congressional district. My vote will count for many... and yours can too! If you become a delegate! Ask your local meet-up group organizer for more details.

+1

I agree to an extent. You are right about the big cable tv networks--no question. We have to expect that. It is very hard to use the machine to defeat the machine, it can be done but it is difficult.

The local news stations are our biggest asset and I think we may be overlooking them too much. They have shown themselves to be much more willing to report reality as well as being more aggressive and curious, traits the MSM left behind long ago. For example, who do you think the first people to break a story on Romneys theft of the straw poll the other day would be? Cnn or local Florida news reporters?
All that we can do when these events occur is send all of the video and any information to the local tv news stations. They will probably investigate it and maybe do a story on it. The story would then be picked up by AP (still biased) and be thrown around from there. Stories have a way of developing lives of their own especially scandalous ones.

The other thing I would think would be a good idea is to run RP radio adds on Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity programs----sounds crazy but imo it would cause the hosts to at least address why and how those ads where placed, I think it would cause a stir. RW talk radio is a bigger foe, imo, than CNN, FOX, etc.

At some point the heads of the corptocracy are going to have to realize that the cat is out of the bag--whether RP wins or not.

Last question.....If RP doesnt win and doesnt go third party, what are your plans? After this experience, do you plan to close up shop and say oh well or do you plan to stay connected to all of these people and use what you have learned to continue to tear down the fascist elements of this govt piece by piece? I think I know that you dont plan to stop and neither will I.

Sorry for the rant but I do understand the frustration, I feel it to.

Maybe I am the only one but the way I see it the Media is not everything, and they may be helping us in ways they do not understand.

When Paul says "Freedom is a message that brings us together" his is right.
After the debate many were disappointed, but the energy was that it is time to come together and fight even harder. The media IS flaming the Revolution!

We clearly own the new media, no questions asked. Unfortunatly, most Americans still get their news from the old media. Times are changing quickly though.

Most Americans used to get their news from the old media.

In 2004, it was a TIE between alternate sources (comedy shows and the net together) and the old media.

A study came out just the other day that showed some VERY encouraging numbers. Here it is AGAIN in case you missed it...

http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003678478

"Nearly two-thirds of Americans do not trust press coverage of the 2008 presidential campaign, according to a new Harvard University survey, which also revealed four out of five people believe coverage focuses too much on the trivial -- and more than 60% believe coverage is politically biased."

I get disheartened too sometimes but it doesn't last too long.

Catastrophes like revelations of CNN's manipulations of the questions for the youtube debate ... death rattles.

Remember: We are in the process of rendering the old media obsolete.

We will never get their permission. We shouldn't bother asking for it. We do not need it.

We will never get their approval. We shouldn't bother asking for it. We do not need it.

:)

This criminal coup has been planned for a very long time. All that has happened has been no accident and they knew that in order to pull this off, they needed to be able to control the media. Bill Colby was the fricken Director of the CIA and because he turned whistleblower he was murdered. Not because of this statement in particular but it is no less important for everyone to understand:

“The Central Intelligence Agency owns everyone of any significance in the major media.” ~ William Colby, Former Director, CIA

The media are NOT our friends. They will throw us a bone every once in awhile so they can string the sheeple along but................if you think for one minute that some day the media are going to embrace RP, you are in for a huge disappointment.
