People are inherently stupid, and will eventually be led by mob rule by whoever has the best tactics of ruling them. This creates the necessity for a revolution, as Jefferson put it, "every 40 years".

Might I suggest if you want to keep this thread actually alive, go and try to delete about 20 random bumps per day from the past. Really, there are so many pages in this I will not bother. It is too tedious.

You won't get an island. The only doable course of action is to circumvent trade in the legal sense. So... you work, I give you something, but that's not payment, it may not even be a gift, officially, it could still be mine, I just let you use it henceforth. This way you can build up your own shadow society and pay no taxes, since there is no official income, nor are there official sales. Of course, when it comes to the executive branch, you'll only have one form of punishment, because nothing else will be feasible, namely capital punishment and your "police" would be in constant danger of being thrown into prison. Well, that didn't stop the people in Sicily, so it is doable, as I said.
