I'm friends with about five RP supporters in my grade and a couple of Romney supporters who have said Paul is their second choice. Anyways, there's A LOT of Obama support at my school. Most of them don't really have an understanding of key issues and seem to revert back to the "change" rhetoric when confronted with serious issues like the economy, foreign policy, etc. It really shouldn't be surprising though because you're talking about a generation of kids that have (at least much more so than previous ones) been spoiled rotten. They're used to getting everything they want and thus have no problem with the governmentmst providing their resources. Likewise, they don't have a problem with all of the spending today because they've grown up in families that have spent much of their time in debt themselves. Combine this with a public school system that says if you defend yourself against a bully you'll be suspended, and you get a decadent, dumbed-down bunch of cowards that will naturally gravitate towards socialism and the lack of responsibility that comes with it.

don't forget, we also had a Republican-led Congress during the Clinton years ... and I don't think they were big spenders like those of the Bush W years.
