Anyone who votes for July 4 does not understand the magnitude of how horrible a day it is for fundraising. No one is home on July 4, everyone is out shooting off fireworks, having picnics, or travelling. Why would it be beneficial to cripple the entire evening time hours when EVERYONE is outside doing fireworks?

The same goes for the whole weekend.

Should be:
Ready, Ames, Fire! July 19th
Ron Paul Birthday bomb August 20th
Constitution day bomb Sep 17th
Guy Fawkes day bomb Nov 5th
Tea party bomb Dec 16th

What do you think?

Promote mini-bombs on debate days too. Like, encourage everyone to donate around $5, but immediately after the debate, so it's like 100,000 in 1 hour.

I think a 3 day mega bomb (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) would raise more at a critical time for a final push before Ames, in both cash and media attention.

July 19 Ready, Ames, Fire!

gives us more time save up, spread around, make videos, ect

I plan to donate on July 19th. I don't know if i'll donate on any of the other dates, but I probably will.

The July 19th date should just be changed to July 29th-31st, and still be called Ready, Ames, Fire!

I obviously prefer a three-day as well, seems bigger, better, and would generate more energy and optimism before Ames

The three day idea is WAY too late for the campaign to have enough time to organize for the Ames straw poll. Where did this idea even come from? A moneybomb is supposed to be 24 hours, even the Wikipedia entry says that.

Thats not a bad idea, and we could keep the independence day bomb....

Its July 4th to 5th, so its a two day MB that will have support on the 4th from the Die-Hards, and will have even stronger support on the 5th (a Tuesday) when the others return from their holiday plans.

I still didn't vote yet, but leaning to the 4th-5th, but i still like having the Ames one and the other in July

Oops, subtract one from July 4 Freedom Bomb and add one to July 19 Ready, Ames, Fire!

Accidentally hit the wrong one...

If we had nearly two months for planning, promotion, and savings...we could combine a 3 day megabomb with phone-banking fund raising, and raise 10-12 million. It may not fit the Wikipedia definition, but the media upside is far greater. We do these small bombs too often, and they won't get enough attention.

I think a 3 day MoneyBomb should come after The Ames straw poll. Tie a three day MoneyBomb to the August 20th one. A record amount of donations after a win in Ames will fuel more media attention. July 19th Ready, Ames, Fire for the win!!

I say let's ask the official campaign what dates they would prefer, based upon the total number of money bombs. In other words, if there is just one money bomb between now and 12/31/11, what specific date would they like? If there is two, which two dates would they like? If three, which three dates? etc. In fact, let's let them apply their expertise and make a calendar for us. They may know more than we do. If it's more dates than you would like, donate less. If it's fewer dates than you would like, donate more. Plus this will eliminate all of the confusion, wasted energy, and potential sputtering enthusiasm referred to earlier in this thread. Let's friggin do this. I think this is a winning idea. It will likely allow the campaign to plan better, also.
