Transphobic comments?

Words are violence!

What do you have against self-defense, comrade?

Disturbing threats?

Sticks and stones!

What do you have against freedom of speech, comrade?

Interesting. I found this:

In their letter to UCLA, Perez and Cesena strongly objected to the idea that such brain imaging -- capturing the neurological response of gender dysphoria -- could provide any scientific data that could "help" trans people in the future.

"It is suggestive of a search for medical 'cure,' which can open the door for more gatekeeping and restrictive policies and practices in relation to access to gender-affirming care," the letter stated.

Feusner and Savic-Berglund, however, explained that "by demonstrating that body-self incongruence was linked to brain structure and function, we aimed to help provide a biological basis and increase empathy for the life stories of transgender individuals. From the beginning, the aim was to help increase acceptance of transgender individuals."

A couple of problems for the "community."

1) Teens who have been convinced by their teachers or peers that they are trans could get scanned, find out that they are not, and drop out of the community.

2) Somebody might get the bright idea that instead of treating the body of people with dysphoria, you might try treating the mind.

For pretty much every other dysphoria it's the mind that is treated. For example body integrity dysphoria. Nobody would suggest someone, especially a child, should get a limb amputated just to feel more comfortable with his/her body. But a sex organ? Why of course!

What is body integrity identity disorder (BIID)?
Body integrity identity disorder (BIID), or body integrity dysphoria, is a mental health condition where you feel that a limb or healthy body part shouldn’t be part of your body. You’re aware that this body part is healthy; you can still feel, use and move this body part, but you don’t believe it should be yours. You want to live life without the use of that limb.

As a result, you might ask a healthcare provider for an amputation or attempt a self-amputation of your healthy limb. This can be extremely dangerous and potentially life-threatening. The outcome of BIID is physical disability.

Your desire for amputation or physical disability may make you feel complete — as if your physical self finally matches your true identity. Unfortunately, there’s no way to know whether an amputation will help you achieve this goal. Non-amputation treatment options are available to help you manage this condition.

What body parts does BIID affect?
Body integrity identity disorder can affect any part of your body. Most often, you may feel like one of the following isn’t part of your body:

Leg.
Arm.
Finger.
Toe.
Eye(s).
Ear(s).
Teeth.
One study found that the left leg was the most commonly affected limb. Some participants in the study said that their right leg was useful; they needed to use the right leg to drive a vehicle, for example. This motivated study participants to want to keep their right leg.
