[Video] Rand Paul on The Today Show w/ Savannah Guthrie 4/8/15

God Savannah Guthrie needs to shut up and let him answer questions.

Rand is being accused of "mansplaining" again, whatever that means.

Rand Paul goes full mansplainer on “Today”: “That would be a better way to approach an interview”

Rand Paul to Savannah Guthrie: ‘Instead of Editorializing…Ask Me A Question’

By Jeffrey Meyer | April 8, 2015 | 10:10 AM EDT

On Wednesday, Today co-host Savannah Guthrie repeatedly badgered Kentucky Senator Rand Paul over his views on foreign policy following his presidential announcement. Things got so heated during the discussion that Paul had to tell Guthrie “before we go through a litany of things you say I’ve changed on, why don't you ask me a question.”

After discussing whether or not he had presidential ambitions growing up, the interview got combative over whether or not Senator Paul would ever support a U.S. nuclear deal with Iran. Despite explaining that “part of the problem” is that Iran has interpreted the nuclear framework differently than the United States, Guthrie interrupted the Tea Party senator and demanded that he “take that issue off the table.”

The Today co-host eventually allowed Senator Paul to answer her question but then proceeded to lecture him on how his foreign policy positions have evolved over the years:

You have had views in the past on foreign policy that are somewhat unorthodox, but you seem to have changed over the years. You once said Iran was not a threat, now you say it is. You once proposed ending foreign aid to Israel, you now support it at least for the time being…You wanted to cut defense spending and now you want to increase it 16%. So I just wonder if you’ve mellowed out.

For his part, Paul objected to Savannah Guthrie’s editorializing on his foreign policy positions and asked her to “let me explain instead of talking over me." Paul then told her “before we go through a litany of things you say I’ve changed on, why don't you ask me a question? Have I changed my opinion? That would be sort of a better way to approach an interview.”

I don't know how you ask the question then. You have to make references to what you mean by it when you ask your question.

I don't think this is going to work out for them. He's right. Both interviews were women who did the exact same thing. I wouldn't be surprised if it was scripted. She didn't seem to mind his putting her down. Almost as if she was expecting it. But Rand called her out and summed it up very well right on live TV just like last time. It's not a man vs woman thing like they want it to be but its him calling them out on bad journalism. Lol

This wasn't a question. It was an impeachment. She was trying to get him to squirm and get defensive. I think it would be an improvement if he calmly and patiently let her finish. No skin off his back to do that and THEN calmly pointing out that she asked him 4 questions at once on complex issues (Iran, foreign aid to Israel, cutting defense spending, have you mellowed out) and that she was editorializing. This makes her look unreasonable. But he did do a good job re-framing and answering each point, and on the rest of the interview... Too bad no one will see anything other than those 20 seconds.

There going after him just like did Ron.

Try to trip him up on low info talking points to fix the narrative of the puppet masters in the viewers mind.

I'll dissent to say the interview could have gone better had he let her finish before telling her how she's wrong. Yes Salon is a abysmal website, but it's still bad optics to be impolite with a perky female morning show host.

In the past when he's gotten annoyed with interviewers I never thought it looked good. It first happened with the NPR guy asking about Jack Hunter.

you guys are acting like Iran isn't telling the truth. Do you really trust washington to come out and say to all off the warmongers that iran is going to keep on keeping on? the military industrial complex is bipartisan and always has the house and senate.

Rand has basically gone full neo-con on Iran. I can't stand to hear him talk about Iran. Rand was kinda rude here

He either takes a harder line on Iran like he's currently doing, or he has no chance at all to win the GOP nomination. That's the sad state of the Republican Party right now. I still don't believe that Rand would push for war with Iran if he were President.

She should have asked Rand what changed since 2007 that makes Iran more of a threat now, enough so that he flipped his position completely on the matter? I want to ask Rand how Iran poses a threat to us.
