Gary Johnson [Video] Gary Johnson wants troops in Uganda but not Libya

Big deal. He's mainly using it as a reference point against Libya, which was definitely worse. Anyway, you're not going to find many people who are as non-interventionist as Paul, and Johnson is still easily the 2nd best out there. He doesn't want to bomb Iran like Huntsman or continue nation building like the rest of the candidates and Obama.

uhhh... he's irrational and inconsistent and has no coherent philosophy or platform.

of course that's why he's a non event and going nowhere.

so you're right...big deal.

He does whatever he feels is the right thing and isn't afraid to change his positions if he realizes he was wrong. I know you might be thinking "so he's just another flip flopper". Well, he makes his decisions based on pragmatic reasons rather than political ones. He changed strongly during his two terms as governor from common positions to more maverick, libertarian ones despite what people thought, so I don't have any doubts that he's a man of integrity, unlike the rest of the clowns. Still, he has yet to have everything figured out and is liable to change. Paul, on the other hand, has been saying the same thing for many years and hasn't had any reason to change because he's been right. That's why Paul's a more attractive candidate, but if him and Johnson had a talk about Uganda, I dont think Johnson would have anything but open ears, which is a good thing.

I wouldn't be hating on Johnson for having an open mind. I'd love to see him as Paul's VP, or as a future presidential candidate.

he's not flip-flopping, it's worse than that.

he's holding two conflicting opinions and has no way to justify either.

watch the video and watch him choke when challenged.

i love the comment about the nukes tho lol. "i think blowing up the earth 4 times ought to do it." i think him being in the race if he can get more face time helps ron paul seem more mainstream and when he drops out (please god let make him drop out) we will get all those votes instead.

He needs to drop out, endorse Paul, and run for Senate, even if his foreign policy makes little sense.

Gary said many times "if he had signed that legislation", which could have been a hint that he would have never signed the original authorization to get involved in Uganda. Who knows? He seemed to be trying to talk tough for the Fox broadcasters and audience, while at the same time playing to the leftist humanitarian war mongers.

He dodged a simple question by changing the subject to claim he'd be transparent =\

Johnson's foreign policy might be worse than Cain's, who has no foreign policy yet.

Wars for "humanitarian" reasons are ok?
US should protect Israel?

Johnson understands that the libertarian ideals are the smartest fiscal answer. But does not come at it from an ideological standpoint.

Like his stance on legalizing marijuana is based on it being cheaper than how we are currently handling it as opposed to the fact that we own our body.

First Rand says some strange things unlike his father...and now Gary says some fucked up shit.

After 2012 we got nobody to carry this movement unless Schiff wants to give it a try.

To those people who don't think a lack of philosophical backing to Libertarianism matters in "the real world", here you go...

I don't understand GJ's position on this.

He believes in protecting lives, property and freedom as the proper role of government. So if there is an opportunity to do that he will at least weigh the benefits and costs.

Anyone want to explain to me how Ron Paul's desire to militarize the border or ban flag burning is consistent with non-statist intellectual libertarian values?
