Ann Coulter defends Sarah Palin's defense of Rand Paul

Here's a clip from last night's political roundtable with Bill Press and Ann Coulter. Do you think Sarah Palin is correct about the media's thirst for a Rand Paul "gotcha" moment? Feel free to comment below.

PS - if Rand had gone down in the polls, a new poll would be out by now.

They want to paint him as "kookier than Ron Paul", kudos to Ann for defending him.

Joy always liked ROn Paul. its clear shes a fan but I think this incident will muddy the waters

If called upon, I will publicly defend Ann Coulter's defense of Sarah Palin's defense of Rand Paul's defense of the Constitution's defense of individual liberty.

If this happens, Someone had better stick up for me.

If called upon, I will publicly defend Corsair's defense of Ann Coulter's defense of Sarah Palin's defense of Rand Paul's defense of the Constitution's defense of individual liberty.

I would defend Michelle Hart's defense of Corsair's defense of Ann Coulter's defense of Sarah Palin's defense of Rand Paul's defense of the Constitution's defense of individual liberty, but I prefer to be more bold and directly defend Corsair's defense of Ann Coulter's defense of Sarah Palin's defense of Rand Paul's defense of the Constitution's defense of individual liberty.

In college, I had this ridiculous liberal prof who was Jewish. I knew to get an A I had to bash Ann Coulter, so I did, and called her a Nazi, etc. This ass sent my essay to Ann Coulter without me knowing, and she responded to him and me kinda blowing it off. I felt bad because I didn't really feel that way about her and never consented for him to send my essay to her.

BTW, I did get an A.
BTW 2, this was a freaking econ course that should have had nothing to do with politics.

A very similar situation was why I changed my major from Political Science.

Wow, I knew Bill Press was a liberal but I didn't realize he was a prick.

The problem with people like him is that they sound intelligent and reasonable, especially sitting next to someone less-serious like Ann Coulter. But look at what he said:

BILL PRESS: I don't think the people of Kentucky want to go back to segregated water fountains.

ANN COULTER: Neither does he! (Rand)

BILL PRESS: He does so, he said it!...

Yeah, OK Bill, you've got a book titled "Toxic Talk" about "how the right has poisoned the airwaves," and you're saying Rand Paul wants to go back to segregated water fountains. That's one of the worst, most dishonest smears yet of Rand. Fuck you.

Bill Press just interviewed Ron Paul only a few weeks ago. He was acting like he was a huge Ron Paul fan and just giddy to talk to him. So the dude is a fake.

Bill Press's stock fell off a cliff for me with that.

I always thought he was a fair voice (even though he's a liberal).

Ok, why would you say that Rand wants to go back to segregated water fountains when that is so wrong on so many levels? Do you not understand:

A) The difference between the public sphere and the private sphere? Rand COMPLETELY AND UNEQUIVOCALLY supported the portions of the Civil Rights Act that dealt with the public sphere.

B) The difference between disapproving or not condoning of certain activities like speech that you don't agree with, but allow it to be spoken? On principle?

Rand would NEVER approve of segregated water fountains, even on private property, but that doesn't mean the Federal Govt. needs to enforce a law against private property owners!! This is a fundamental, principled view. A lot of people who hold it detest racism and I am really disappointed that there are so few people on the left willing to stick up for REAL civil liberties and the right of private property owners. When you are FORCED to serve your fellow man, that is called slavery, plain and simple. That is what you are advocating. When a business chooses not to serve people they lose profit, that is their decision, their loss. Nobody has a right to a cup of coffee, people have a right to buy, brew and sell coffee. That's what makes this country so great, stop trying to twist around what America stands for. If we had a better understanding of property rights and how to protect them, pollution would be less of an issue because pollution destroys property rights and those who pollute should be held completely liable!! That is the point Rand was trying to get across with his BP comments, but again the left media distorts what he says to fit their own agenda.

I love a lot of what Noam Chomsky says, but some of you talking heads on the left could really learn some lessons from him about how you YOURSELF are operating to trick people.

;)

Writes Bill Press:

Finally, Kentucky Republicans got some good news yesterday: Republican Senate nominee cancelled his appearance on “Meet the Press.”

Which is the only way he could avoid getting into more hot water. Because, as Rand has already proven several times, every time he opens his mouth he sticks his foot in it – big time!

First, several interviews in which he raised questions about the Civil Rights Act of 1964, said he wasn’t even sure he would have voted for it, and still endorses letting private businesses discriminate based on race.

Then, calling President Obama “un-American” for being so tough on BP after the Gulf Oil spill – when most Americans think Obama’s not being tough enough!

Things got so bad that Karl Rove called Dr. Paul to tell him he’d better stop flapping his gums. And even national Republican Michael Steele refused to defend him.

Rand Paul’s only defender, in fact, is nutty Sarah Palin – who accused Rachel Maddow of ambushing him with a trick question. How Nixonian of her, blaming the media.

But, in fact, Paul had already told two other interviewers he could not support the Civil Rights Act before he repeated it on MSNBC.

Rand Paul’s problem is not biased journalists. It’s his own stupidity.

That’s my parting shot for today.

Wow. I already hate him. (Thanks for the link, Danno.) And awesome email you sent there! Hehe.

This was my favorite part:

Nobody has a right to a cup of coffee, people have a right to buy, brew and sell coffee. That's what makes this country so great, stop trying to twist around what America stands for.
