URGENT * DEADLINE 7/28 MIDNIGHT* Grassroots Talent Needed for FULL PAGE Iowa ad

I think the electability issue has more to do with two things:

1. His "crazy uncle" label from last election
2. He isn't the hollywood-slick-as-snot-lines-memorized- POS that the public has gotten used to

The "crazy uncle' image is quickly shedding now that the media is starting to acknowledge that he predicted this.

But, he needs to be re-packaged ( hate that term..). The public is ready for the man in my signature......

Deb is spot on!

Romulus, in your second ad, "Chairmen" should be spelled "Chairman". (As much as I'd like to clone him, he's but one person.)

That said....I love it! A lot of great stuff in this thread! :)

None of the ads are good

Sadly I have had to spend 55,000 dollars in the last year and a half advertising my business.

I like the ads you guys made. But, that's because I like Ron Paul.

John Q. Public ain't looking for Ron Paul. He don't care about Ron Paul. He don't care about politics. Even politically aware people are not reading the newspaper to look at the ads, even if the ads are political.

A good ad has to catch someone's attention. I know it's lame, but that's effective advertising unless you been branding yourself over a very long period of time.

So, for a one-off ad, it needs to be something kinda lame that gets your attention.

i.e. ARE YOU F@CK!NG PISSED AT THE DOUCHE BAGS THAT RUN THIS COUNTRY???

if you are, don't support an establishment scumbag...

THE ONLY GUY WHO IS WORTH YOUR VOTE IS RON PAUL

Why?

blah blah blah

Yes, it's totally tasteless but my ad would get a lot more complaints and a hell of a lot more attention.

They say the average straw poll attendee is a 50+ year old woman. I don't think that ad would appeal to her, honestly.

As someone who is majoring in Advertising...the best one is by far the first one provided by Romulus. It is very simple and to the point. It clearly defines who Ron Paul is. Couldn't have done it much better myself. Well done.

As a designer myself, I concur here! I definitely think the first one by Romulus is really solid.

Edit: My reasoning for picking Romulus's 1st ad, is a lot to do with the readability of it and also it will contrast really well on the page. A lot of these seem to me either too vague or too much reading. That one really hits it home!

If I have a chance tonight, I'll try and put one together.

The first one by Romulus appears to be a non-starter in its current form, due to the source of the image... Just sayin'.

[edit] sorry just read this is for submissions only, but seriously, if someone owns the image... let's not get the RPAC sued inside it's first week of existing. [/edit]

Here's my submission. I don't know if I'm too late or not:

RonPaulAd.jpg

For some reason the colors shifted a little in this forum. It looks fine in Photobucket. Weird.
Here's the link of it from photobucket:

I also did some photoshop enhancements of the photo. Here's the before & after:

RonPaul-BandA.jpg

I removed stray hairs, pimples, & shaving bumps. Tweaked the darkness around his eyes & recolored the purplish hue. Enhanced the sharpness of his eyes. Did some tweaking of those 3 vertical grooves on his forehead. Minimized the focal distortion of his nose. Slightly minimized his crows feet by his eye & removed the dark sunspots on the right side of his forehead.

Very good point. Who has the copyrights on this?

All of these are likely to be clipped, but my understanding from many posts earlier was that Time owned that particular image.

[edit] mello, that's the very image in question. Nice edits, though. [/edit]

Mello, that image was called out as being under copyright earlier by Time (I think?)... it's a good one though. :|

Also, though it's hard to see... you may be the first submission to put forward anywhere close to print size. :)

Sunny, can you update mine using this one? I fixed the typo

2e4.jpg

If we do go ahead and use this one, the text needs to be proofread. Also, I think it can be worded even better in parts. I went ahead and fixed some of the grammatical errors and did some tweaking to the text, so if you like it you can just copy and paste.

"An obstetrician who has delivered over 4,000 babies, an Air Force veteran, chairman of the Domestic Monetary Policy Subcommittee in the House, and a 12-term congressman, Ron Paul understands that America is in critical condition. He is the only true conservative committed to a Constitutionally-limited government, restoring economic prosperity, and a strong national defense. He has a 30-year voting record to prove it.

No other candidate can claim that. Now more than ever America needs a doctor, not a lawyer, to bring this nation back to good health. Vote Ron Paul for president in 2012."

Titles like "president" and "lawyer" aren't capitalized unless they're part of the proper noun.

First checkmark: "Received more donations from active duty members of the military than all other Republican presidential candidates- combined."

Second checkmark: Would get rid of "The taxpayer's best friend." Less is more, first part speaks for itself.

Third checkmark: White House not Whitehouse

House Representative not Represnitive

Please use another pic. Ron looks so frail, so old, so tired here. The pic reminds me of the powerless Magneto in the final scene of X-Men: The Last Stand. I would turn the page before bothering to read the copy because the picture is that off-putting (at least to me).

Seconded.

I knew there had to be at least one more good editor/proofreader on this forum.

GOP Chairman, not chairmen

Throw my vote in for Romulus too (the first one), although I'm not too crazy about the quote. The content is good but the "I give you my word" part seems too preachy and status quo to me. Maybe I'm just over-analyzing that though...extremely solid design.
