I saw that. Surprised there wasn't another Elisjha Dicken at a mall in Texas.

People need to step the fuck up.

It can not be made any easier to carry a concealed weapon in a majority of US states.

There should have been 20 armed citizens pointing guns in this asshole's face before he even started shooting.

ETA - And yes I know that sounds hypocritical after my comments on the Neely choking.

But a suburban mall in Texas with an active shooting is a world away from a NYC subway with an unarmed deranged derelict.

Meh. You're being too hard on yourself. You also said this in the Neely thread....

The real villain here is the State of New York for denying sane rational people the tools with which to defend themselves.

In this case, a good OC spray, backed up with a lethal force option, would have neutralized Neely without having to go hands on.

Our defender would not be facing life in prison for controlling Neely, Neely himself would have still been alive.

(Emphasis added).

Thanks, and it's true.

A good hosing of jerk sauce is the safe and effective response to deal with a hostile and physically abusive but unarmed person.

It offers a response in between a harsh word and gun.

I guess the idiot in the silver car forgot their shifter has a position marked R?

So....the guy in that gets out of the first silver car is the shooter? The "dash cam" video is mounted in the back of the car? Or the dash cammer was backing up? How did the dash cammer know to back up before the shooting started? And I take it the person you're talking about with that didn't use reverse is the one who drove right in front of the shooter?

Hmmmm....

But neighbors say the suspect always wore some kind of security guard uniform, although no one says they ever saw him with any kind of weapon. They say he was very quiet, but they say they did notice certain unusual and quiet behaviors.

Federal agents will likely spend days -- or even weeks -- going through all of the suspected shooter's belongings, computers, phones and anything else they can find to determine a possible motive in the shooting.

Dallas Police Department computers are still down after the city’s system was attacked by ransomware on Wednesday, so it’s hard for them get information on prior calls to the home, they say.

So shooter might be a security guard. (Passed a background check if that's the case). Ransomware attack has the police department computers shut down? Coincidence or relevant?

Which is why one should NEVER trust their precious life with another individual - badge, no badge, or rent-a-cop in uniform. You never know if that day comes that they might snap and fall off the deep end. Just look at all of the officers in Blue who have killed for no reason, trial and jury.

1) I wonder if Francisco Oropeza has any gang tattoos? (Multiple deported Mexican national who killed 5 people execution style.)

2) Are Mexican narco gangs capable of doing ransomware attacks on police stations? Or do they have the cash to hire someone who is? (Rhetorical question of course.)

What we know about the slain Texas mall massacre suspect, Mauricio Garcia
Garcia, who had a tactical vest, was armed with a rifle and a handgun, a senior law enforcement official said. Authorities said he was a suspected neo-Nazi sympathizer.

DALLAS — The gunman who killed at least eight people and wounded a half-dozen more at a Dallas-area outlet mall was a 33-year-old suspected neo-Nazi sympathizer, two senior law enforcement officials said Sunday.

Allen police on Sunday identified the shooter as Mauricio Garcia. Garcia was killed Saturday by a police officer who happened to be at Allen Premium Outlets, about 25 miles north of Dallas, police said.

The gunman, who lived in Dallas, was armed with an "AR-15 style assault weapon," President Joe Biden said.

He was wearing a tactical vest and also had a handgun, one of the senior law enforcement officials said.

More weapons and ammunition were found in his car, the source said. He was wearing a patch on his chest with a right-wing acronym at the time of the massacre.

A preliminary review of what is believed to be the shooter’s social media accounts reveal hundreds of posts that include racially or ethnically motivated violent extremist rhetoric, including neo-Nazi material and material espousing white supremacy, two senior law enforcement officials said.

The officials stressed that the investigation is ongoing. The preliminary review found that the gunman’s social media posts were not liked or shared by other users.

Police and the Texas Rangers, working with the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, are investigating the shooting as a case of racial or ethnically motivated violent extremism, two senior law enforcement officials said.

Authorities believe the shooter acted alone, one of the officials said. Investigators are interviewing his relatives and friends.

It was the second deadliest mass shooting in the U.S. this year and the second in Texas in a little over a week.

A next-door neighbor of the suspect, who asked to be identified only as Julie, said she would see Garcia going to and coming home from work every day like clockwork.

“He tried to acknowledge us but seemed a little off," Julie said. "He wasn’t somebody you could carry a conversation with."

Julie said she was stunned when she learned the suspect’s identity.

“You could have knocked me over with a feather when I found out,” she said.

Another neighbor, Gilda Bailey, said three police squad cars were parked outside his house when she got home. She said that they would not let the suspect's relatives inside the residence and that she later saw the FBI removing items from Garcia's home.

“I don’t understand what triggered him,” Bailey said.

Another neighbor said living so close to a suspected mass killer was "chilling."

“Just the thought of living a few houses down from someone who can do this can be a little scary and give you more caution,” said Moises Carreon, 52. “I don’t know why people want to shoot innocent people for any reason.”
