Truth Bomb Day: What Lie do We Attack?

I made a suggestion the other day that we try a thing I like to call Truth Bomb Days. This is a semi-organized effort to discredit one, shall we say, Universal Misconception that harms the cause of liberty. My original thought was to use the 23rd to discredit the Dept. of Labor's unemployment propaganda by explaining that there are 23 million out of work, and that makes the real unemployment rate not 8%, or 7.8%, but 23%. Some didn't like that, because some heard Fox propagandists playing up the same thing, and some felt it could benefit Romney. Another suggestion was that we attack the notion that someone has to be a Democrat or a Republican to be president. This is as nonpartisan as it can be, and I admit that it's more timely.

Well? I like 'em both. Besides, no one died and left me in charge. So, I'm throwing it on the mercy of the Democratic Process. What do you think?

For those who didn't see the other thread, the idea is that we will storm the web with, well, whatever we can think of to bring attention to a particular misconception and disprove it. It could and should involve social networking, blogging, vids, responding to articles that seem to prop up the misconception, letters to the editor (thus making it multimedia), and whatever else we can think of. The hope is to make the misconception a topic of conversation across the country.

So, please, if you want to participate, vote! Let's see what we've got!

That is actually something that isn't off-topic when discussing voting for independents. Discussing third parties very much lends itself to that conversation.

I think 'vote against the Goldman Sachs candidates' is a good meme, but I'm not sure we gain credibility for our reality bombs if we say, this late in the game, that one of the others could win. They mostly don't have electors, for one thing.

I can try and help with a video eek: sorry Kathy), but I think the "a third party can't win" is a big issue...only because people do admit, "I don't like Obama or Romney, but they're the only ones that will win."

I'll keep an eye on this thread, make sure to keep it "bumped" as well.

That can be cured easily enough if we can actually get them the popular votes. We wouldn't let that stop us.

Now, how do I have three people responding and only one vote? I don't want to vote until there are enough votes that I don't influence the thing.

I also hope this will serve as a barometer of interest--so we can see how many people might participate.

There are some graphics floating around that say "Goldman Sachs 2012" or some such.

Pretty funny, gets people thinking, etc.

Should have some numbers to back it up. A list of Goldman political contributions for the past 20 years or so would be interesting.

This is the thread to do it in. But you only get to vote 'other' if you post a good idea.

At the end of the day, if we can only get three people to participate it doesn't matter much...

But a topic that catches on will get more to participate. Sorry, I have the flu and my brain is in cotton. 'Vote against the Goldman Sachs candidates by voting 'other' or writing in' works for me, if it is going to be before the election, but I don't think it is really a reality bomb. Maybe the info we can put with it on Goldman Sachs donations would be....

Haha, I'm trying to decide which route, or another topic maybe, before casting my voting.

But the only way to prove that is to entice a very large number of people to vote for an 'unapproved choice' so we can all see what happens.

How about, "If you haven't called your Congressman or Senator in the last month, you are now ineligible to vote." We can contact Thiel, and run this the week before on every single network...constantly.
THEN, at the same time...we run, "There will be a 48 hour HoneyBooBoo, American Idol, and NFL show marathon from November 5-7. You think we could pull it off?

Talk radio ads will be nothing but, "You're not eligible to vote, watch American Idol instead."
"Bummed about not voting? Don't be! Celebrate by watching the NFL marathon!"

If we address the unemployment rate, that would most likely help Romney pick up votes if this gets a decent audience...just saying.
