Donald Trump Trump to Run for Prez? (GOP)

Trump could not win a retail primary such as NH. he just could not shake hands at factories, have lunch at a diner or fire hall; he could do well as a 3rd party 100% media candidate where money and presence is all that matters.
TV is his medium, and that is not what wins NH or IA. and the base would hate him. he could easily win as NYC Mayor, maybe even Gov of NY.

he dents romney's hair, with or without gel

he might make it easier for huckabee or palin

or even ron paul to give the debates a focus

Billionaire Donald Trump is telling friends he has decided he will definitely run for president as a Republican.

Trump will make the announcement when his NBC show "The Apprentice" finishes the season in the spring, he is confiding. He has been soliciting recommendations on political advisers, focusing initially on the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary. Trump declined to comment.

In October, Trump said on Fox News' "Fox & Friends" and on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" that he was thinking about the possibility of running. In an interview from Scotland, where he has been building a golf course, Trump expanded on his comments to Newsmax, saying that "the world is laughing at us" and the United States is now “a punching bag for the world.”

It is “sad what’s happened to the country,” Trump said. “We’re no longer a respected nation, and we should be the most respected.”

According to a Newsmax/SurveyUSA poll conducted Nov. 3 and 4, in a head-to-head race between President Obama and Trump, the entrepreneur would get 47 percent of the vote, versus 53 percent for Obama.

Trump polled strongly among Republicans and conservatives. He got 50 percent of the votes of independents.

Understandably, many are skeptical that Trump would actually run. He has toyed with the idea before and is now at the pinnacle of his real estate career.

At his New Year's Eve party at Mar-a-Lago, his home and club in Palm Beach, he clearly was enjoying his celebrity, shmoozing with Regis Philbin and Rod Stewart in between dances with his stunning wife Melania.

But Trump has told friends he believes Obama is a "disaster." An advocate of a strong national security, he becomes livid when he talks about the decline of America compared with other countries like China.

“I look at the jobs numbers, and I see what’s going on in China, where it’s booming," Trump said on Fox News. "You know why it’s booming? Because they’re making all our products. They’re taking all our jobs. We are rebuilding China, and our country is going to hell.”

I really don't see it. He's more a running joke than anything else.

One cool story about Trump - I heard Adam Carolla on his podcast tell a story about how he (Adam) and Trump were both guests on the show the Marriage Ref. Trump kept whispering to Adam "this will be the highest rated episode in the history of the show"

He had no reason to think that and wasn't true - but Adam stated this is the kind of confidence that leads to great success. I believe this somewhat to be true - to have enormous success you have to almost be overconfident to the point of delusion at times that what you do will succeed.

Joy, rapture. Another billionaire with no sense of duty to the American people, but every sense of achieving more for personal gain. That's sure to change things.

but Trump could easily do a Lieberman or Murkowski; lose badly in the primaries and then run 3rd party. which is the best way to do a 3rd party run.

Yeah Trump would really love to support a guy who opposes corporate welfare and imminent domain *sarcasm*

the benefit of Trump is they will have to include him in the debates, and more will watch the debates because Trump would be in them

if Donald Trump has traction, he has to really
galvanize many small business GOP people!!!

i agree with RPH in that i think Trump cuts
into any centrist support Mitt Romney has!

Trump is in the news again with his Presidential aspirations...

His catchphrase as host of the American version of The Apprentice is "You're fired". But the words that Donald Trump really wants to hear are "You're elected", according to conservative circles in Washington.
...
He was reportedly telling friends over the recent holidays, when Rod Stewart was among guests for a lavish New Year's Eve party at his Palm Beach estate, that he will "definitely" make a White House run as a Republican.

I didn't realize Trump supported Universal Healthcare. If that wasn't the case I actually think he could win. One reason is that the economy may be the only issue that really counts - and if the pain gets worse the American people will elect anyone they think will turn it around. Trump could probably beat the living daylights out of Democratic opponents in debates. He's very sure of himself in the recent interviews (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAnGBwjwpHI). Secondly, a lot of Americans (myself included) will like his tough talk on China and OPEC. Now... I don't know if the 25% tax he proposes on China would work... I'm just saying he's interesting to me. But I couldn't support anyone that believes in the Obamacare fiasco.
