Top US General Says American Troops Should Be Ready To Die For Israel

That's my optics. But, you won't hear it in the MSM. Hell, in my lifetime it seems every president couldn't secure a legacy unless he initiated one.

And here we are. Though Trump has continued to participate in those initiated before his presidency, to some degrees more or less, he has yet to declare 'his' war.

and not a M$M pundit will admit it.
You can barely get anyone here to admit it.

Trump didn't take the Iranian Gulf of Tonkin B.S. The Iranian 'yellow cake.' He has the war powers resolution. He could have. But, he didn't. But the TDS, globalizers, are gonna sput and spout. Fuck 'em.

I'll take it as it comes. And I'll hope he and Rand will keep golfing.

Yea it's somewhat encouraging that he has bendable ear.
Considering recent escalations in mideast and warships/troops movements, perhaps Rand should try to upgrade his interactions from golf to dinners:

1k troops ain't shit. You've got perhaps 100 operators and 900 logistics. But the optics makes you look like "you are doing something." for the neo-cons.

They will probably be divided between multiple countries and barely make a difference to the troop levels but nobody can say he didn't take the safety of American troops and our allies or the freedom of the shipping lanes seriously.

Good point.
Also, it's possible it was just a media release to confuse Iran and real troops could be fewer (or possibly more).

The additional forces sent Monday raise the total number of troop increases since early May to about 8,500. The Pentagon also has dispatched an aircraft carrier task force, strategic bombers and other warplanes, as well as Patriot anti-missile batteries and other forces.

As U.S. Jews Cool To Israel, Evangelicals Flock There As Tourists

August 25, 2019
Tom Gjelten

Sharon Litton of Shreveport, La., is baptized by immersion in the Jordan River, where Jesus is said to have been baptized. Such baptisms are a staple of evangelical tours of Israel.

President Trump's evident desire to identify who's most "loyal" to Israel has a clear winner: U.S. evangelicals.
Not only do they outpace U.S. Jews in their support for policies that favor the Israeli government, but U.S. evangelicals have also become the fastest-growing sector of the Israeli tourism market. The developments may even be related.
"I'd say close to 100% of our travelers come back extremely pro-Israel in their political views," says Andy Cook, a pastor who leads evangelical tours of the Holy Land twice a year.
Back to its roots
Tourist travel to Israel is growing about 10% a year, according to Eyal Carlin, the incoming North America director of the Israeli Tourism Ministry, with evangelical Christians a growing share of U.S. visitors.
"More and more companies are entering each year with faith-based or evangelical packages," Carlin says. "The evangelical world is going back to its roots."

The trend coincides with growing evangelical support for Trump's embrace of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his hard-line policies, even as U.S. Jews have grown more critical.

A recent Pew Research Center survey found that 42% of U.S. Jews say Trump "favors the Israelis too much," while just 15% of U.S. evangelicals agreed with that statement.
Evangelical leaders of the Christian Zionism movement, from Jerry Falwell Sr. to John Hagee, have attributed their fervent support for the state of Israel to their own Holy Land travel, according to Daniel Hummel, author of Covenant Brothers: Evangelicals, Jews, and U.S.-Israeli Relations.
"They say visiting Israel was a key part of their political awakening," Hummel says, "and this goes down to the rank-and-file people in their organizations."

Pilgrims gather on the banks of the Jordan River at Galilee for baptisms. Israeli authorities are eager to accommodate tourists' interest in ancient Israel, according to author Daniel Hummel.

Brilliant, ''an endless program of war '' (my take) ,
going down the path of supporting and dying for anyone including
Israel that's bent on eliminating Muslims.

The idiot Air Force Vet (Stewart )in the last segment obviously considers himself an expert on
foreign relations, he talked with some Muslims.
:frog:

I have no special love for Muslims or any of Israel's neighbors, but I will never stop defending ''their right to exist''
(one of Israel's big payday cards, they seem to apply to only themselves) .

Summary of what I understand Scheuer to be saying , and I agree;

As long as we continue to try to police the world and attempt to make other cultures adhere to ours, there will be
a cost, we are being bankrupt and continue to lose American lives, we are not accomplishing anything, not effecting
significant change, just nurturing the hate for us that is brought on by tyrannical and brutal interventionism.

From their actions it also appears they fear Arab Christian more than Arab muslims and Ron Paul had claimed that Islamist groups Hamas was created by Israel. That did weaken secular/Christian leadership of PLO.

Hopefully we're not complicit in vanishing of Christians from Palestine and other parts of mideast with US taxpyaers funded freedom spread activities:

Christian population in Palestine declining due to Israel occupation

October 21, 2019

A delegation of Palestinian Christians attending the Holy Land Conference in Johannesburg explained how the Israeli occupation was driving away indigenous Christians from the Holy Land [Afro-Palestine Newswire Service]

October 21, 2019 at 3:35 pm
The number of Christians in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories is declining as a result of the suppressive political and economic conditions due to the conflict with Israel.
According to the Afro-Palestine Newswire Service, indigenous Christian Palestinians once constituted over 19 per cent of the population of historic Palestine, but number less than two per cent today, as the Arab-Israeli conflict has caused the majority of Palestinian Christians to leave their homeland.
During a conference held in Johannesburg last week hosted by the Evangelical Alliance of South Africa (TEASA), Palestinian Christian theologians and activists addressed the Israeli restrictions preventing Christians from practicing their faith and being denied the right to worship at their most sacred sites in occupied Jerusalem.
Israel also denies Palestinians access to healthcare and employment opportunities, delegates heard, leading to a drastic decline in the Palestinian population, including that of Christians.

Restrictions on movement and opportunities of Palestinians include Israel granting travel permits late, and not allowing all members of a family to travel, forcing them to separate during holidays.
Many have also had land confiscated to make way for illegal Israeli settlements, causing families to lose their homes and sources of income.
According to Shireen Awwad Hilal, the coordinator of Musalaha Women’s Ministry in Bethlehem, who spoke at the conference, explained: “Many Christians feel that there is little hope for a better future for their children under Israeli occupation, and this has contributed to the growing emigration of Palestinian Christians. Christian Palestinians are under threat from the Israeli occupation.”

Bernie Sanders gets ‘huge applause’ during debate for being only candidate to mention Palestinians

There’s been a lot of grim news coming out of Israel/Palestine in recent months, but this hasn’t prompted debate moderators to ask the Democratic candidates about the subject. Last night was no different, but the issue was raised by Bernie Sanders during the foreign policy section of the evening.
“It is no longer good enough for us simply to be pro-Israel. I am pro-Israel,” said the Vermont Senator “But we must treat the Palestinian people with the respect and dignity they deserve. What is going on in Gaza right now, where youth unemployment is 60, 70 percent, is unsustainable.”
If I'm not mistaken, this was one of the biggest applause lines of the night. https://t.co/aFNaSCj9kh
— (((YousefMunayyer))) (@YousefMunayyer) November 21, 2019
Sanders comments prompted applause from the audience and praise from many progressives on social media. “You hear that applause for Palestinian rights at the Democratic debate?,” tweeted Sanders Foreign Policy Advisor Matt Duss, “Yeah you do.”

Numerous polls suggest that support for Israel is weakening among Democratic voters. Among Democrats, sympathy for Israel is weaker than it was before Mr. Netanyahu took office in 2009. A Gallup poll from earlier this year asked voters whether they were inclined to support Israel or Palestine and found that just 43% of Democrats are partial to Israel. That’s the lowest number in 14 years. A recent Data for Progress poll found that 65% of Democratic voters support conditioning military aid to Israel in response to its human rights record. An October report from the centrist Center for American Progress ended up with an even higher number when they posed the question: 71% of Democratic voters support such a move.
Bernie just brought up Israel-Palestine to discuss Palestinian youth unemployment. Hard to imagine any other candidate even going near the topic
— Jack Holmes (@jackholmes0) November 21, 2019
“The audience cheered when Bernie Sanders spoke about Palestinian rights because ordinary Democrats believe in Palestinian rights,” tweeted The Atlantic’s Peter Beinart, “And because they know that, even in the Democratic Party, acknowledging Palestinian humanity requires political courage.”
