Sb has me his wife that was disabled in a car accident that wasn't our fault and a daughter who has epilepsy.

Now my daughter is fully capable of working, very intelligent, she just has a seizure now and again. Company's have a right to fire her and have 4 times. See ADA see's epilepsy as a 'gray' area. So therefore it's between her and the company. How would you like to be fired because you were sick for a day? That's the same damn thing. She's proficient. Her sales at one of the stores was $30,000 in a 3 month period of time. Yet she lost her management position and was demoted after a seizure. The seizure doesn't affect her working ability.

The ADA is meant to protect people like her and I. WE aren't asking for any hand outs, nothing special We are asking for rights. For our freedoms.

My daughter should have the ability to hold a job like everyone else and not worry because she has seizures that she loses a job. I have a right to work as well. I am lucky my company has been understanding. I have to walk down stair with my cane to get to my office ... would you like to try that? Have a broken back healing and have no choice? Have 3 bulging discs and nerve damage?

How about getting into doorways and bathrooms? Have you tried that with a wheelchair? I have.

SB's dad lost a job while in the hospital for heart surgery. Companies should not have a right to do this to anyone. What the hell is wrong with protecting good hard workers who have a disability?

Now without the ADA these people become part of the welfare system or if they're lucky they can get onto social security. WE DON"T
WANT THAT. We want to be part of the working world. So many disabled people get overlooked for jobs because they have a disability.

My resume is awesome. But if I walk into the interview with a cane ... there's a concern. Try having that against you.

I hope you are never in a position of being disabled. I hope you are not like myself and have a careless drive take away your abilities in a second. I hope you never have children with autism, epilepsy or other disability that they live with but can still function and perform normally.

I can tell you at the convention my wheelchair was taken away to the fourth floor because "it was a fire hazard", where as, all the camera equipment wasn't? I got it back after I was almost knocked over trying to walk to the restroom with my cane. I am able to walk with a cane we use the chair for events, when I have to walk distances, etc. The elevator was very inconveniently placed, no one attempted to change my seat so I could be in my chair or close to it. How would you feel in this position? Wouldn't you want someone to give you a system you can use so you can have the freedom's as everyone else does? I couldn't just walk freely or move around freely. Even with the cane a lady almost trampled me because she was in a hurry. OH and she used the handicapped bathroom because it was the first one, before I had a chance to get there. Now is this fair?

TRY IT. IT isn't fun. My life has sucked since November 30, 2007. I have pain I hide that many don't see. I have circulation problems because of the nerve problems. I come home and sit in my bed for comfort.

My daughter's friend is paralyzed. He too has had to fight to find a job. He found one. But very few employers would hire a disabled person whose mind is perfectly functional.

Live or walk a day in the life of someone with a disability.

Many who are disabled cannot fight for themselves. Take it between employer and the employee? Come on who can afford the attorney to fight the companies? Not the disabled, I know this. Disabled people need protection for this reason. We aren't asking for handouts if we wanted that we would line up at the door for welfare. Not even my daughter who lost 4 jobs never took unemployment, never took disability or applied, she looked hard until she found a job. In a week she was assistant manager with potential to manage her own store. She is strong while many with her condition don't have the mental strength to not let these things knock them down.

Okay another situation. Insurance. See her and i have pre-existing conditions. Now she is on my insurance but when she is 24 she is on her own. Can she get coverage? NO. She'll have to pay lots of money to get it. My back isn't covered. I can't afford the surgery based on Colorado laws. OH and my daughter's medication WITH insurance still costs her $300 a month. How would you like that at 20 years old?

Us with disabilities WANT to work. My daughter has a job now and is the assistant manager at a store in VAIL and she's 20 and attends college. She has more common sense than most her age. She doesn't drink or do drugs. She will speak her mind when she needs to. Yes someone with a hangover can come back into the store and work that day but she loses hers because of a seizure???? She cannot drive and she follows her doctors orders on this because she respects that she cannot take that risk. So why should she suffer? Why can't she have protection?

So because she can't drive she's limited to times when her roommate works, and the bus. The bus doesn't run on the hours she works most days.

Myself with my back I've had people on a packed bus full of skiers not move out of a seat. I have a cane and when I walk it is obvious I am in pain. Now is that fair? One girl took my seat when I got up to get change from the bus driver. Is this right?

Now there is a place and time for protecting people and ADA does that. I can speak from very personal experience.

SB got upset because I suffer with daily pain and have been on every narcotic there is. That's the solution...can't provide a medical marijuana card but the doctors will hand over a cocktail of both forms of Oxy ( (yes both at once) with ambient for sleep. Than there was the Vicadin and ambient. Now they have me on Darvacit and Valium. This is the solution. Sorry if i misspelled the meds.

SB is my husband and with three people in his family having suffered different forms of discrimination because we have disabilities yes he takes it personal.

He is far from an Obama supporter. He is someone who is taking care of his wife. I may have to have back surgery. I used to snowboard, hike, mountain bike, raft, snowmobile, you name I was active. In once instance it was gone. He has done more for Ron Paul than many people and is a true supporter. He believes in the constitution. The constitution protects the disabled too?

I cannot even stand long enough to do much house work.

So why not have protection for us "Handicapped" ... so there's our story.

Go out and get a wheelchair and spend a week trying to get around, trying to get a job.

Maybe someday you'll understand I hope it's not because someone close to you is disabled in any way.

I truly hope for all to read this you see that disabled people just want to be able to use the restroom easily, to work and not live off the system. ADA helps us do that.

There's big government systems than there is common sense protection. I am not for universal health care. I don't have a solution for that. I am for ADA because American's with Disabilities deserve protection.

Bob Barr doesn't support this I told him directly he lost a vote. I handed his brochure back to him and told him he had just lost a vote.

My RP friends and family were witness to what I had to deal with at the convention.

I could tell you more out of anger but I sincerely want you to read this and learn.

You are lucky not to be in my shoes. My ribs touch my hipbone, my spine had two compressed fractures and it caused my spine to turn, I have to live with this daily. Most end with me in tears because of pain. I don't ask for a handicap sticker and I have hope I will climb the mountains near me someday.

But if I can't I need protection. I need to be able to access things. My daughter and father in law should have the right to work.

Once again I dare you to live in a wheelchair for a week. Completely. Try getting around...try getting to the bathroom easily. Try applying for a job and having a nervous disorder. Your brain is functioning but maybe you have shakes. Try being paralyzed and getting a decent job.

Women have a right to vote because we fought for it. Civil rights happened because we fought for it. Now us with disabilities are fighting for OUR rights.

Now you come back at me all you want. My argument is from experience.
