Santorum is being very generous–and by generous I mean childish and inept–with his interpretations of the terms blame and United States.
If by blame he means engaging in grown up talk about the motives of one’s enemies, then I’m quite sure Ron Paul was doing just that. If by United States he means all the people who approve and continue to endorse military occupation of the Middle East, then Santorum is probably not right anyway. I can’t say for sure, but I suspect Ron Paul blames 9/11 on Muslim terrorists because they’re the ones who hijacked planes and attacked innocent people. Believing in individual responsibility means placing blame on individuals who commit crimes and no one else.
Granted, Ron Paul should stop using the term we when describing American foreign policy as if everyone got together and decided to do all this insane crap. He should stick to a wholesale assault on neoconservative philosophy (who needs it?) and politics.
