Newt is awful at debating. He never actually answers questions, attacks the moderaters, and gets off topic on half of the questions.

He is only good at debating because the media gave him that title. There is no substance to 90% of his answers.

I agree that he is not actually a good debater but I think he is what most Americans consider a good debater. Snarky, comeback king and smartass.

Exactly! After watching these debates I thought Newt did awful...and was astonished when so many (even here) thought he did well. Maybe it's a body language thing...simple minded people probably try to pick up on non-substantive elements of the debate because they know if they try to actually think about the issues, then their contradictory values will just cause endless confusion. Would be curious to what would have happened had these debates been on the radio only...

They do not care about his past issues

Ron really really really needs a debate coach. Rons message is a slow burn.
We are losing time for that.

I am not discouraged. Ron has a plan. But he needs coaching on how to deliver his message more effectively.

I agree. I saw a poll this morning on one of the networks that said the majority of people believe the debates are important. I know it's very difficult because they hardly give him the time but he does have to be more assertive when they start to ignore him.

You know, I saw a video of an Arabic professor from a NYC university who heard Ron Paul speak in one of the debates. His assessment was that Paul was more like a teacher trying to educate people. But the people in the audience were more interested in a candidate who would stir them up in a nationalistic frenzy rather than learning anything substantial. I think he was spot on.

Exactly. Also throw in a few attacks on Obama, and some false patriotism and you have the audience eating out of your hand.

Dr Paul has the message. But delivery is painful. He needs to personalize his messages during the debate. And call it how he sees it, without hesitation. The debate was what made newt win. He brought out emotion in the audience and it carried him to top of the polls. If Dr Paul can drop the professor like talk and get the crowd fired up to tomorrow( like newt did) he may have a chance. If he can change his attitude slightly and engage the audience and give them an emotional reason to hear his message.
Dr Paul if you can hear me? If you read these posts please stick your foot up the ass of these phoney presidential Wannabees tomorrow Display to them and the world how a guy who Been around the block and a guy who knows what is going to fix this country can roll. Do it confidently and commandingly. These debates are reality TV now. Give them a show they will not forget especially when they go to the voting both. Good luck.

Using Leary's 8 circut model, it's easy to see how Next operates on circuit 2 and Paul on 3. Most Americans operate on 2. These debates are a good illustration of what the mystics mean when they say reason is a whore.

The problem is the marginalization of the MSM and the obvious packing of the audiences by them. The MSM ignored RP, who won the 2nd debate, while fawning all over Newt in the 1st debate, because of his big mouth. Somehow the MSM has to become exposed/marginalized/converted/trashed.

I agree his 76 hes not gonna change much. But imagine the difficulty MSM would have of DR Paul was charasmatic and engaging. It would be impossible! Its easy for them they have zero respect for him. they arent afraid of any backlash or back talk from him cause he dosent play that game. But its there game. hes gotta play. Hes gotta play if he wants to win.
Emotional triggers are the key to sales and this is sales.
